Air India and Thai Airways deepen partnership | News


Air India, India’s leading global airline, and Thai Airways International (THAI), the national carrier of Thailand, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), building on their existing interline agreement, to explore a deeper partnership aimed at boosting connectivity between Thailand, India and destinations beyond, leveraging each other’s global network strengths.

The MoU was signed on June 7, 2026 on the sidelines of the ongoing IATA AGM in Rio de Jeneiro, Brazil.

Air India and THAI plan to enter into a codeshare agreement in 2026, subject to requisite regulatory approvals, aimed at expanding travel options for travelers between India and Thailand and delivering greater customer value through their respective networks.

The two Star Alliance member airlines plan to place their respective designators (‘AI’ for Air India and ‘TG’ for THAI) on each other’s flights between India and Thailand and on select international routes from the two countries, giving their customers easy access to various destinations in Asia, North America and Europe. The specific terms of the proposed codeshare agreement will be announced in due course.

It also supports Air India’s broader ambition to expand the to strengthen India’s connectivity with the world, offering more choice and greater value to our customers.”

Chai Eamsiri, Chief Executive Officer of THAI, said: “The MoU with Air India marks a meaningful milestone in our strategy to strengthen regional connectivity and better serve passengers traveling between Thailand, India and destinations beyond.
