‘Brothers for Life’ leads Skyline and Galaxy’s global sales push

Vietnam-based sales agent Skyline Media and streaming platform Galaxy Play have entered into a partnership that will bring Galaxy Play Originals to international markets for the first time, appointing Skyline Media as the exclusive international sales agent for more than 20 original miniseries.
The deal was unveiled during DANAFF Industry Days at the fourth Danang Asian Film Festival, a program launched to connect Vietnamese content producers with buyers from abroad. It gives Skyline Media a foothold in premium scripted miniseries alongside its existing slate of Vietnamese and international feature films, while opening a path for Galaxy Play to move its original productions beyond Vietnam’s local streaming market.
The first list includes crime, action, thriller, horror, romance and drama titles. The flagship is ‘Brothers for Life’, Galaxy Play’s gangster-action-crime saga that has been running for four seasons and has won awards at the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting+ Awards and the Asian Academy Creative Awards. Also included are ‘Thousand Dollar Baby’, a high-end escort drama that is among Vietnam’s best-known streaming franchises, and ‘Sugar Daddy vs. Sugar Baby’, a relationship drama that focuses on the country’s underground sugar dating culture.
The line-up also includes ‘Container 39’, drawn from the real-life truck tragedy in Essex that killed 39 Vietnamese migrants, and ‘Eve of the Crime’, a thriller based on a real-life murder case in a remote Vietnamese mountain town. Ham Tran, director of “Devil’s Diner” and “Hijacked,” directed the latter title.
“This partnership marks an important milestone for Skyline Media as we continue to expand from feature films to premium Vietnamese miniseries,” said Hang Trinh, CEO of Skyline Media. “Audiences around the world are increasingly embracing serialized storytelling, and we believe Vietnamese creators have compelling stories that deserve to be discovered internationally. Together with Galaxy Play, we look forward to introducing a new generation of locally produced premium series to global buyers and opening more avenues for Vietnamese IP to travel beyond borders.”
Galaxy Play head of production Anh Pham conceived the deal as a way to expand the platform’s reach beyond its home market.
“Galaxy Play Originals are created to deliver premium Vietnamese stories that resonate with local audiences through high production values and compelling storytelling,” said Anh Pham, head of production for Galaxy Play. “Working with Skyline Media will give these productions the opportunity to reach broadcasters and streaming platforms internationally, helping Vietnamese stories connect with even more audiences around the world.”
Galaxy Play serves more than two million paying users and features Vietnam’s largest premium library of local films and series, in addition to local blockbusters and major Hollywood studio releases. The platform has built an extensive 4K catalog with Dolby 5.1 surround sound and has received multiple awards in Asia Pacific for its scripted originals.
Skyline Media distributes more than 800 foreign films and represents more than 150 Vietnamese and Southeast Asian titles as a sales agent, with a reach spanning more than 50 countries and territories through more than 130 partnerships.
