Monstropolis, a new land coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios | News

Newly revealed story details introduce the story that will invite guests to Monstropolis, the first-ever land inspired by Disney and Pixar’s ‘Monsters, Inc.’ is coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The experience is built around HUMAN Day, short for “Humans Understand Monsters Are Nice,” a citywide celebration that brings people into the monster world for the first time.

Set after the events of the original film, the story builds on James P. Sullivan and Mike Wazowski’s discovery that human laughter is significantly more powerful than screams. This breakthrough not only transformed the city’s energy source, but also changed the way monsters view the human world.

Now that shift has led to what is being described within the city as a “historic decision.” For the first time, leaders prepare to open the doors between worlds and invite people to experience Monstropolis.

To support this new chapter, the city has created the Department of Human Relations, a newly formed team dedicated to helping monsters and humans better understand each other and preparing the city for this historic first meeting.

HUMAN Day serves as the backdrop for the arrival of guests in the monster world. Part celebration and part cultural exchange, people are invited to explore Monstropolis, interact with its inhabitants and experience the city firsthand as monsters and humans come together through laughter rather than fear.

As the land continues to take shape, guests can expect a fully realized city full of vibrant streets, working industries and recognizable locations inspired by the film. Iconic destinations such as Harryhausen’s restaurant and the Glob Theater will bring Monstropolis to life.
