Anantara Chiang Mai Resort unveils the Mae On – Mae Ping Atelier Afternoon Tea | News

Anantara Chiang Mai Resort introduces The Mae On – Mae Ping Atelier Afternoon Tea, a refined culinary journey created in collaboration with Skugga Estate, celebrating single-origin cacao grown in Mae On, located approximately 40 minutes east of Chiang Mai city.
Rooted in the timeless British afternoon tea ritual, the experience is inspired by the resort’s heritage as a former British consulate. Presented with contemporary finesse, the collection reinterprets tradition through a distinctly Northern Thai lens, where local terroir, artistry and taste come together in harmonious balance.
“Mae On offers exceptional cocoa with a deep flavor that lends itself to fine pastry,” said Natruthai Petsuwan, executive chef of Anantara Chiang Mai Resort. “With this afternoon tea, we wanted to celebrate both the ingredient and the region, presenting it through a creative, contemporary lens while respecting its origins.”
Each element reflects the richness of Mae On’s landscape, mountain air, fertile soil and careful cultivation, translated into a curated selection of delicate savory dishes, finger sandwiches and artisan pastries. Chocolate takes center stage, expressed in nuanced textures and flavor profiles that highlight the depth and character of locally grown cacao.
The afternoon tea takes the experience beyond gastronomy and unfolds as a journey of discovery of six chapters. From April to October, guests are invited to take part in a creative ritual, with each visit accompanied by a custom illustrated coloring sheet. Designed as collectible chapters, each month reveals a new interpretation of the journey, providing a personal and immersive way to connect with the story behind the experience.
“At Skugga Estate, our philosophy is ‘where lifestyle meets farming’,” says Anthony McDonald, founder and CEO of Skugga Estate. “Guided by regenerative practices and craftsmanship, we cultivate single-origin cacao with a deep respect for the land, bringing it from farm to table with authenticity and a strong sense of place.”
