Nigel Mayes, Business Development Director at London Southend Airport, said:
“We welcome these further additions to the easyJet network, bringing the number of destinations in London Southend to a milestone of 30 all year round. Our customers continually tell us they want more choice in London Southend, so Lyon is a great addition as it not only strengthens our ski offering to resorts such as Alpe d’Huez, Les Deux Alpes and Les Trois Vallées, but it also adds a new European winter city break option to the existing routes to Amsterdam, Barcelona, Belfast, Berlin, Budapest, Edinburgh and Paris. For those customers who want to enjoy the winter sun and all that Sharm El Sheikh has to offer, they should walk ‘like an Egyptian’ to their local travel agent and have their holiday booked from London Southend – the convenient, fast and friendly airport.”
easyJet offers 29 routes from London Southend to popular beach and city destinations including Tenerife, Berlin, Jersey, Barcelona, Antalya and Palma, flying with three based aircraft and employing 140 pilots, crew and engineers.

With a catchment area the size of Switzerland and approximately eight million people living within an hour of the airport, the London Southend base offers easyJet further growth opportunities in the UK leisure and package holiday market.
