Ioan Gruffudd and Alice Evans’ divorce battle takes a new twist

Much of the communication dates back to 2021, shortly after Gruffudd ended his and Evans’ 14-year marriage. A hearing on the application will take place next Thursday before Judge Michael J. Convey in Los Angeles Superior Court.

The material in question was presented to the court during divorce proceedings in March – although only some of it was examined in open proceedings. Burkhart argues that the documents should be made available for copying and wider distribution because of the high public interest in the case.

A source familiar with the proceedings told us: “Andrea believes there is a significant public interest in understanding the evidence that formed part of the trial file. Her position is that much of the material has never been fully aired in open court, despite being central to the dispute.”

Burkhart’s involvement has attracted particular attention because her application is supported by Gruffudd.

In legal filings, the actor argues that the public has a right to know what he describes as Evans’ offensive behavior, and claims that broader access to the material could help repair the damage to his reputation.

According to court documents, Gruffudd’s attorneys said he has “no objection” to the release of the evidence to Burkhart.

They also reiterated his claim that his privacy interests had already been compromised by Evans’ social media activities, which they described as ongoing and harmful.

A source close to Gruffudd said: “Ioan’s view is that much of the information has already been discussed publicly and that granting access to the underlying documents would provide further context to events that have tarnished his reputation for years.”

Evans’ legal team is opposing the request, saying disclosure of the material could cause distress to the former couple’s daughters, Ella, 16, and Elsie, 12. They have also stressed that some of the evidence includes personal medical information relating to the children.
