RENOVATION, FAMILY & WELLBEING NEWS from Rocco Forte Hotels Verdura Resort | News

Verdura Resort unveils the redesign of 58 properties, marking the first chapter of a three-year room renovation program at Rocco Forte Hotels’ destination in the Agrigento region. The new interior concept, developed in collaboration with Studio Moschino, has been introduced in 10 Grand, Family and Pool Suites and 48 Double Deluxe and Seafront rooms, elevating the guest experience through a renewed focus on comfort, craftsmanship and connection with the surrounding coastline.
COASTAL MODERNISM | Inspired by the principles of ‘coastal modernism’, the design balances architectural precision with the easy rhythm of seaside life. Modernist proportions are reimagined through an emphasis on light and space, while materials play a leading role. Natural stone, travertine and limestone are combined with warm open wood, linen, wool, textured cotton, woven rattan and custom-made glazed ceramics. In the bathrooms, handmade tiles bring subtle color and texture, adding depth and character. Lounge areas and bedrooms look out to sea without interruption, keeping visual barriers to a minimum so that the Mediterranean horizon becomes a constant presence and a continuation of the living space.
“The work carried out with Paolo Moschino and Philip Vergeylen reflects the most authentic story of the destination and the identity of Verdura Resort,” says Olga Polizzi, co-founder and director of design at Rocco Forte Hotels. “The spaces surround guests with light, beauty and well-being, conveying a real feeling of Sicily.”
THE FORTE SUITES: PRIVACY, SPACIOUS SPACES, SHARED LIVING | Crossing the threshold, guests are welcomed into modern Sicilian retreats where generous proportions and a sense of privacy create an immediate sense of ease. Expansive yet intimate, the suites are characterized by a quiet, understated luxury that prioritizes comfort, light and sense of place. Clean lines are softened by a palette drawn from the changing colors of the coastline throughout the day: warm neutrals and chalk whites, ocean blues and aquamarine, washed terracotta and soft coral, grounded by deeper shades inspired by wet stone and sea-worn driftwood.
The 10 Forte Suites express a tailor-made approach to hospitality, carefully designed for families and groups of friends. Generous shared living spaces encourage time together, while the bedrooms serve as intimate retreats, designed to promote tranquility, privacy and a sense of calm. Each Forte Suite has its own personality, each reflecting “a distinct facet of the Sicilian spirit”. The Mimosa Suite draws its energy from Verdura Resort’s own gardens, ocher accents and floral motifs, creating an overall warm and light quality. The Peonia Suite has a calmer, more thoughtful atmosphere, coral and ocher tones and forms what Moschino and Vergeylen describe as ‘an elegant, feminine retreat’. The Acacia Suite turns towards the countryside beyond the coastline, deep greenery and warm woodwork allowing the olive groves to flow straight into the living space.
Custom-made details enrich the interior and give the suites a refined, residential appearance. Integrated wall libraries act as sculptural features and are finished in textured plaster, while desks and shelves introduce a sophisticated eggshell red accent. A dedicated bar acts as the focal point of the living space, with discreet lighting, a mirror backdrop and a sophisticated Light Emperador marble counter. Together these elements add shine and character and enhance the tranquil, contemporary atmosphere of the suites.
Works commissioned by Spanish artist Cristina Mena complete the space. Her abstract pieces in ochre, terracotta and charcoal black reflect the island’s volcanic landscape and light, adding a contemporary contrast to the interior’s geometric design.
SUITES & BEYOND | The program goes beyond the interior to include the experiences curated for suite guests at the Rocco Forte Hotel. At Suites & Beyond, every stay is enriched with opportunities to explore the area through local immersions and thoughtful, customized details.
