Travelex launches latest Nomad mobile stores at Manchester and Liverpool airports | News

Leading currency company Travelex has launched its new mobile shopping concept Nomad at Manchester Airport and Liverpool John Lennon Airport, following a successful pilot at Zurich Airport earlier this year.
Nomad combines full in-store capabilities with a pop-up flexibility that allows it to be moved to serve a large number of passengers. The mobile store offers customers convenience and accessibility and can be opened and closed within minutes, so that it can be stored safely even outside opening hours.
Customers can purchase more than 50 different foreign currencies on the day of their trip or collect pre-purchased travel money online from Nomad, as well as a pre-paid Travelex Travel Money Card (TMC).
“Travelex’s Nomad marks an evolution in the retail travel money experience and helps us serve a wider range of customers more easily than ever before,” said Jacqueline Kelleher, Managing Director – UK at Travelex. “Following a successful pilot at Zurich Airport, we are proud to bring the success of Nomad to Manchester and Liverpool airports and continue to ensure easy access to travel money for almost 40 million annual passengers.”
Nomad features a slide-out screen that displays exchange rates and promotions, increasing visibility. It can also be combined with other Travelex assets, including ATMs and permanent stores, to create a semi-permanent store during peak times.
At Manchester Airport, Travelex’s Nomad unit is based in the airport’s newly renovated Terminal 2 (East), the centerpiece of the airport’s ten-year, £1.3 billion transformation. At Liverpool John Lennon Airport, which celebrated its busiest year ever in 2025, Nomad is located in the landside departure lounge.
“At Manchester Airport we pride ourselves on delivering a world-class passenger experience, making innovative use of technology and providing seamless connections between the North and the world. This innovation from Travelex really fits the profile of what we are trying to achieve – providing operational flexibility but also convenience for customers, allowing Travelex to bring its currency exchange services to passengers at key touchpoints,” said Stephen Turner, Chief Commercial Officer of Manchester Airport.
