A look into Hayden Panettiere’s brutal estrangement from her mother Lesley Vogel

After Panettiere came out as bisexual, Vogel questioned the timing of her daughter’s confession.

“I don’t believe it was hidden, but there is no historical evidence that this is the case,” Panettiere’s estranged mother said Daily mail May 8. “I think the timing of this release is very interesting.”

Vogel also claimed that their relationship broke down around September 2025.

Prior to the publication of her memoirs, This is me: a settlement, on May 19th Think of the Titans actress revealed she and her mother “are not currently in a relationship.”

“But that doesn’t mean I don’t leave the door open for the opportunity to present itself one day,” she clarified.

Meanwhile, Vogel ripped the memoir, calling her daughter “entitled” and claiming that “part of the current drama is selling books.”

“There is a personality style that manifests as a need for control, entitlement and a lack of empathy,” she explained. “The greatest fear is that someone will see through the mask they present to the world and discover who they really are.”

Additionally, Vogel said she “took the advice of professionals and chose the no-contact route” after “20 years of trauma.”

“As do many parents of entertainment children [know]“We are all too familiar with the painful observation of watching the self-destructive paths they sometimes choose,” she told Page six. “No parent hopes for this scenario; we want our children to be the best they can be and live peaceful, joyful lives!”

“Unfortunately, this is out of our control,” she continued. “You can’t save someone who doesn’t want to be saved. Radical acceptance is the most difficult challenge any parent must face. Sadly, I’ve seen a lot of it in my life experience.”

Vogel then suggested that her daughter’s portrayal of her came as no surprise, pointing out, “When someone leaves, the smear campaign begins; accusations, anger, belittling, gaslighting, etc. are the classic signs of this behavioral style. The desire for drama and punitive measures is traditional and expected.”

Panettiere responded to her estranged mother’s rants in an interview with Entertainment tonightand labeled them as ‘so fake’.
