TMZ has confirmed that a person of interest has been arrested by Pima County police in connection with the kidnapping of Savannah Guthrie‘s mother, Nancy.
A law enforcement source involved in the investigation tells us it is not a member of the Guthrie family.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Office tells TMZ the person was arrested during a traffic stop south of Tucson.
We broke the story… our law enforcement sources told us the operational theory is that the kidnapper is from the Tucson area and wrote the ransom note that was sent to a few TV stations in Tucson and TMZ.

This morning, the FBI released the first images of Nancy’s apparent kidnapper… and the FBI made the images public the same day they received the information.
As we told you, the kidnapper promises to return Nancy to Tucson within 12 hours of receiving the $6 million ransom… which means they’re currently somewhere within about a 700-mile radius of Tucson.
There were two ransom deadlines, both of which passed… even though Savannah tried to contact the kidnapper and even offered to pay.
On Tuesday afternoon, we first noticed activity on the Bitcoin account mentioned in the first ransom note sent.
Developing story…
