Why senior royals are suddenly sympathizing with exiled Andrew Windsor

King Charles, 77, and Prince William, 43, have maintained a strict distance from Andrew, with the monarch insisting in a public statement that the legal process must proceed without interference. Palace sources have indicated that Charles has taken a “strong stance” on his younger brother, while William is believed to support that approach.
In private, however, the tone seems more nuanced. Princess Anne, 75, reportedly contacted Andrew directly and checked on him during periods of heightened scrutiny. Insiders suggest she has even suggested he move to her Gatcombe Park estate to escape public attention.
One source said: ‘There is a growing sense that this situation has transcended the formal boundaries of the institution and into something much more personal. While the monarchy as an organization has taken a clear position, the conversation within the family itself shifts to what they owe each other on a human level.’
The insider continued: “There is an understanding among Andrew’s siblings that despite everything that has happened in public, their relationship with Andrew doesn’t just go away. He is still part of the family and that carries with it a certain responsibility, even if it is handled quietly and without any public display.
“It’s less about defending him or excusing past decisions, and more about recognizing that he is ultimately their brother — and that connection is something they can’t completely turn away from, no matter how complicated the situation has become.”
