Vice President J.D. Vance appears on ABC’s “The View.”

Perhaps peace negotiations are underway between Disney executives and the Trump administration.

Vice President J.D. Vance will appear on “The View” on June 16 and join all six of the program’s co-hosts to discuss his new book, “Communion: Finding My Way Back to Faith.” With this appearance, Vance becomes the first on the ABC daytime show. In addition to the book, he and the presenters – Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, Alyssa Farah Griffin and Ana Navarro – are expected to discuss priorities and goals for the government and the latest political headlines.

Vance’s appearance on the show comes as Disney and the Trump administration wrestle over license renewals for eight ABC TV stations. The Federal Communications Commission, led by Chairman Brendan Carr, ordered the company to file for extensions years ahead of schedule. In the filings, Disney has said the applications were filed “under protest in response to an unlawful, arbitrary and unconstitutional order.”

‘The View’, which has flourished in recent years in terms of political discussions, also found itself in the government’s crosshairs. The FCC has also been investigating whether the program violated so-called “equal-time” election laws after the appearance of political figures, launching its investigation after Texas Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico appeared on the show in February. The FCC issued new guidelines in January that late-night and daytime hosts must devote equal time to political candidates from different parties, saying the programs may operate along partisan lines.
