The Westin Playa Vallarta debuts as Westin’s first all-inclusive resort in Mexico | News

The Westin Playa Vallarta, an all-inclusive resort, has officially opened as Westin’s first all-inclusive hotel in Mexico. Located along the shores of Banderas Bay, the resort introduces a refined, experiential interpretation of all-inclusive travel – shaped by thoughtful design, chef-led culinary experiences and Westin’s longstanding commitment to wellness.
Formerly The Westin Resort & Spa, Puerto Vallarta, the property has undergone an extensive multi-million dollar transformation, including guest rooms and new adult swim-up suites, dining options, wellness areas and more. The result is a thoughtfully reimagined resort experience that combines Westin’s wellness philosophy with the ease and rhythm of life on Mexico’s Pacific coast, creating a foundation for a stay characterized by comfort, stunning design and connection to place.
“The opening of The Westin Playa Vallarta marks an important milestone for Marriott International and for the Westin brand in the Caribbean and Latin America. As the first Westin All-Inclusive resort in Mexico, this hotel represents an evolution of the all-inclusive experience – one that stays true to Westin’s wellness ethos while meeting the growing demand for high-quality, experience-driven all-inclusive travel in the region,” said Federico Greppi, President, Caribbean and Latin America (CALA), Marriott International.
“We are excited to welcome travelers to this new chapter in luxury all-inclusive travel,” said Hugo Lecanda, General Manager of The Westin Playa Vallarta, an all-inclusive resort. “As more travelers choose seamless, high-quality experiences that nourish both body and mind, we invite our guests to embrace a new way to experience Mexico’s Pacific Coast.”
A refuge where nature, design and well-being come together
The redesigned resort combines Westin’s biophilic design principles with the relaxed beach house aesthetic. With architectural design by Sordo Madaleno Arquitectos and interiors refreshed by Uribe Krayer and Vida Design Studio, there is a clear emphasis on open-air spaces, tranquil tones and lush, nature-filled sanctuaries, creating a seamless connection with the surrounding landscape. The heart of the lobby features a reflecting pool, which reflects the Pacific Ocean horizon and invites a sense of tranquility from the outset. Throughout the resort, lush greenery, handcrafted ceramics, woven accents by Mexican artisans, and warm oak finishes create spaces that feel grounded and welcoming. Original artwork by Berenice Hernández Castro further connects the interiors to the natural palette and cultural rhythms of the region.
Rooms and suites designed for rest and renewal
Each of the resort’s more than 280 guest accommodations has been redesigned with comfort and restoration in mind. Guests will find the new Westin Heavenly® Bed 2.0 in every room, offering an elevated sleep experience. The Swim-Up Junior Suite is a new adults-only swimming facility that introduces a tranquil network of water paths on the ground floor, providing a serene yet social environment surrounded by lush tropical greenery. Guests booking this room category will receive exclusive access to the Playa Dip Club, a poolside social experience with curated culinary snacks, cocktails and other amenities.
For longer stays, guests can book the Sky Pool Suites, which offer private plunge pools and breathtaking ocean views. Families will find the convenience and comfort of home in the Wholesome Family Studios, complete with kitchenettes and flexible living spaces. For the ultimate luxury of space and exclusivity, the Heavenly Penthouse and the expansive two-story Presidential Suite feature private terraces, plunge pools and panoramic views of Banderas Bay. Additional accommodations include the Ocean View Junior Suites, with spa-like bathrooms, and the Heavenly Panoramic Suites are adorned with yoga mats, lavender balm and scented candles, further enhancing the focus on wellness.
Chef-driven, social dining: fresh flavors meet regional flair
At the heart of the resort experience are exquisite culinary experiences, with an emphasis on locally sourced ingredients and chef-driven menus that nourish body and mind. The social center of the resort is the Gourmet Gallery, an open-air meeting space with stunning views of 300 palm trees, bringing together a world of inventive flavors in 10 culinary and mixological concepts. Highlights include Flora Bar, a botanically inspired cocktail lounge; Agave Studio, which offers small mezcal tastings and chef-curated pairings, further differentiated by Mezcal Verde Amaras, presented in a custom bottle designed exclusively for the resort; Tanto, a refined Japanese dining experience; Palma, with Caribbean and Latin American flavors; Call Me Lalo Taquería, a playful tribute to Mexican street food culture; and Organic & Co Café, with coffee, smoothies and fresh dishes. Opening in the coming months, Sabia will be one of the most exciting culinary venues on site.

The weekly offering includes sound healing, sunrise yoga, kayaking, paddle boarding, Aqua Fit, Fitdance, meditation rituals and coastal cycling.
