The feud between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle threatens the marriage

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly embroiled in an escalating battle over money, ambition and their future in California, insiders reveal RadarOnline.com The couple’s increasingly bitter disagreement over finances puts enormous strain on their marriage.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, aged 41 and 44 respectively, have presented a carefully curated picture of domestic bliss in recent weeks from their $29 million mansion in Montecito. They shared Easter photos of their children Archie, seven, and Lilibet, four, looking for eggs around their parents’ sprawling estate.

But behind the polished social media posts, sources told us tensions are mounting over the sustainability of the couple’s lavish lifestyle and the future of Meghan’s struggling business ambitions.

The claims come after royal biographer Tom Bower claimed in his latest book that the Sussexes need at least $3 million a year to maintain their current standard of living.

According to our insiders, financial anxiety has become a major source of conflict between the couple as Meghan looks to expand her lifestyle brand As Ever, while Harry increasingly questions whether their Hollywood strategy is collapsing.

One source said: ‘Harry has become increasingly concerned about their finances behind closed doors and it is putting enormous strain on the marriage. He’s sat down with advisors, gone over the numbers in detail and is alarmed by how expensive their lives in California have become.

“Between the security teams, the Montecito estate, the domestic staff, the travel agents, the PR consultants and maintaining the kind of image the Sussexes feel they should project, a huge amount of money is spent every month.”

The insider added: “Harry grew up in an environment where he never really had to think about money in practical terms, so seeing huge amounts of money so quickly has been a real shock to him. He has become much more conservative and risk-averse in recent times as he is terrified of burning through their fortune without enough stable income coming back.”

The source continued: “Meghan still believes they are building something huge and that all these setbacks are temporary.

“In her eyes, they are still one landmark project or business deal away from becoming a multibillion-dollar global powerhouse. That difference in mindset is causing serious friction as Harry now focuses on scaling back and protecting what they have, while Meghan pushes to invest even more aggressively in their future.”

The insider added: “At their core, they are no longer aligned with what success actually looks like. Harry seems to want a quieter, more sustainable life, centered around charity work and family, while Meghan still has huge ambitions in business, entertainment and celebrity culture. That disconnect is becoming increasingly difficult for them to ignore.

“To the outside world, Harry and Meghan still look incredibly rich and glamorous, living in this huge mansion in Montecito and moving in elite circles, so people assume they have endless amounts of money coming in. But behind the scenes, the financial pressure is apparently much more intense than anyone realizes, because their overhead costs are absolutely eye-watering.

“They spend extraordinary amounts of money every month just to maintain the lifestyle and brand they have created around themselves. Security alone costs a fortune, then there are staff, travel, property maintenance, PR teams and all the costs that come with trying to remain major players in Hollywood and the business world.

“There has also been a huge amount of investment in Meghan’s businesses, particularly her lifestyle brand and several projects that have not yet delivered the kind of returns they were hoping for. A lot of money has been spent in the expectation that it would ultimately pay off in a huge way, but that hasn’t really happened so far.

“Some months they’re actually trying to balance what’s coming in and what’s being spent. That’s why Harry has become so concerned lately – because he’s starting to realize that even for people at their level of wealth, it’s possible to overextend themselves very quickly if income doesn’t keep up with ambition.”

January marked six years since the Sussexes stepped back from their royal duties and moved to California after signing lucrative deals with companies like Netflix and Spotify.

At the time, the couple were widely seen as Hollywood royalty, with executives eager to capitalize on the global fascination surrounding the monarchy.

But several major projects have reportedly stalled, including the adaptation of Carley Fortune’s novel Meet me at the lakewhile insiders said enthusiasm around the couple in Hollywood has cooled dramatically.

Further pressure has arisen after Netflix chief executive Ted Sarandos reportedly unfollowed Meghan on social media, while reports also suggested the streaming giant had distanced itself from its As Ever brand.

Despite the setbacks, Meghan remains committed to continuing to invest in the project, including plans related to Australia and wellness projects.
