The Balmoral, a Rocco Forte Hotel, invites suite guests to make it official with Scotland in a new experience, Be a Scot for the Day, a bespoke journey into the culture, heritage and traditions of Scotland, culminating in a ceremonial moment where guests are recognized as an official Scot for the day. Designed for anyone who feels connected to Scotland, whether through heritage, curiosity or love of its rich culture, this immersive experience provides a meaningful introduction to the country’s enduring traditions.
Guests embark on a personal journey through Scotland’s history and cultural identity, tracing the clan’s ancestry or discovering the stories, landscapes and traditions that define the nation. The experience continues with Gordon Nicolson Kiltmakers, where guests can discover the meaning behind tartans, select one associated with their name or create a bespoke design, before trying a private bagpipe lesson. The experience also includes an expert-led whiskey tasting at SCOTCH to explore whiskey regions, and a ‘Taste of Scotland’ dining experience, where storytelling, folklore and regional cuisine come together.
It concludes with a festive opening event, with guests receiving a certificate naming them the official Scot for the day, alongside an engraved Hamilton & Inches quaich – the traditional ‘welcome cup’ – or an engraved whiskey tumbler, also made by Hamilton & Inches.
