Hotel Calimala Florence announces the opening of The Lobby, a new aperitivo bar on the ground floor, complemented by renewed culinary leadership at Angel Roofbar & Dining. Together, the two concepts reflect the continued evolution of the hotel’s food and beverage offering, creating a cohesive journey starting with Italy’s pre-dinner aperitivo culture, to an elevated rooftop dining experience overlooking Florence.
Evolved from Meze, The Lobby offers guests an elegant bar and lounge experience dedicated to modern Italian aperitivo cuisine. A vibrant space sets the tone for the evening, with an extensive selection of Italian fine wines and sophisticated signature cocktails, including the Angel Mule, Parthenope and Mexico Italia. Chef Hilla Attar has created a menu of sophisticated sharing appetizers to complement the drinks program, from prosciutto and melon to baked polenta and chicken liver pâté.
The Lobby is located on the ground floor of Calimala The West, with direct access to the bustling streets of Florence. The Lobby is housed in a 19th-century Gothic-style building redesigned by acclaimed architect Alex Meitlis. It features tiled floors with black and white patterns, modern lighting fixtures and colorful artwork. At one end of the room is a semi-circular marble bar, and in spring and summer aperitivo is available to enjoy al fresco.
Reopening for the season is Angel Roofbar & Dining, the three-story open-air oasis with captivating views of the city’s picturesque skyline. Angel unveils a new gastronomic experience, offering guests modern Italian cuisine, with signature dishes including the trofie with pesto, grilled fish skewers with grilled leek, spinach, garlic confit and Calabrian chili and the Angel Burger. With two indoor and outdoor bars, guests can enjoy new signature cocktails, from the Angel Mule to the Figs and Pepper and the non-alcoholic Journey to the Aegean.
At Angel Roofbar, guests are surrounded by the best of Florence’s Renaissance past, with sights stretching from the Duomo to the rolling Tuscan hills beyond.
