CORI HORNBÆK HOTEL TO DEBUT ON COPENHAGEN’S RIVIERA IN AUGUST 2026 | News

Opening in August 2026, CORI Hornbæk Hotel heralds a sophisticated, design-led hospitality offering on Denmark’s quietly coveted north coast. Positioned as a year-round resort, the property brings a distinctive Scandinavian aesthetic to a destination that has long been a favorite with discerning travelers and Copenhagen’s creative collective.

Located 40 minutes from the capital, the idyllic seaside town remains a hidden gem and tranquil retreat, made up of weathered beach houses and sandy beaches surrounded by dunes. Hornbæk Beach – widely regarded as one of the country’s most beautiful coastlines – is defined by soft white sand, calm bathing waters and a quality of light that has attracted artists and designers for generations. Now the CORI Hotel is located in the first row on the beach.

Design-led sanctuary
Designed by award-winning Afroditi Krassa, whose portfolio includes Rosewood Hotels, Harrods London and One&Only Aesthesis in Athens, the resort is part of the prestigious Leading Hotels of the World collection, and features 77 rooms and suites and five townhouse apartments. Each space is conceived as a private sanctuary, balancing Scandinavian elegance with a sense of ‘barefoot luxury’ and reconnecting with nature. The interior features bespoke carpentry produced on the owners’ nearby farm, combining artisan craftsmanship with international style. A highlight of the property is the one-bedroom Sky Suite, with its own private terrace and curved floor-to-ceiling windows that provide a rare, dual perspective of both sunrise and sunset over the dunes.

“For us, CORI is more than a hotel. It is a labor of love and a tribute to the architectural heritage of the Danish Riviera. This building was originally conceived in 1935 as a ‘Badehotel’, a place for healing by the sea, and we felt a deep responsibility to restore Ole Falkentorp’s functional icon to its former glory while modernizing it for a new era. Our vision was to create a space that respects the quiet, understated richness of Danish culture and at the same time a level of international ‘barefoot luxury’ that is both welcoming to our local community in Hornbæk and irresistible to travelers around the world.” – Jesper Brunander, owner of COPI, developer of CORI

Longevity and well-being
Returning the building to its 1930s origins as a ‘Badehotel’ (hotel by the sea), CORI’s wellness offering is rooted in the restorative power of the sea and the Scandinavian lifestyle. The CORI Spa is a holistic wellness destination where nature and innovation come together to deliver experiences focused on longevity, relaxation and balance. The spa, which will open later this year following the hotel’s debut, is rooted in the rhythm of the Danish coast – designed as a sensory oasis with rounded architectural lines and natural materials that care for the feet. The experience is centered around a striking greenhouse-inspired indoor pool, designed to blur the lines between indoors and outdoors. Here guests can participate in an extensive program, including:

Traditional Scandinavian rituals: hot-cold therapy with invigorating dips in the sea, followed by the warmth of a fire-lit shrine or outdoor sauna
Silent Lounge: Advanced sustainability treatments using leading wellness technology and biohacking, including compression boots, LED face masks and Smart Eye Goggles
State-of-the-art Health Club: a dedicated space for training and exercise, framed by panoramic views of the dunes, the sky and the shifting Scandinavian light. A scenic space for yoga, pilates and sound therapy practices.

Each spa experience is based on natural ingredients and Scandinavian traditions, inspired by the rhythms of the surrounding coast and the building’s original mission: to heal through nature. CORI is the only spa in Scandinavia to work with spa partner brands including Tata Harper, Raeso, Raaw Alchemy and Manasi7.

Modern Scandinavian gastronomy
Led by celebrity chef Brian Mark (formerly at Michelin-starred Søllerød Kro), Cori Table presents a modern, vibrant culinary experience on the Scandinavian coast, enriched with Mediterranean influences. With a setting for up to 55 guests, the restaurant is designed for meaningful conviviality and long, effortless conversations in a vibrant space that brings the ease of familiarity and intimacy.

The culinary philosophy emphasizes:
Seasonality and locality: The kitchen works closely with coastal fishermen and Danish farmers, with exceptional, seasonal ingredients determining the menu
Longevity and wellness: Plant-based dishes and lighter options are naturally integrated, supporting the hotel’s broader wellness philosophy
Understated Excellence: The food focuses on flavor before noise, bringing together Scandinavian clarity and genuine, accessible dining

The restaurant features a terrace overlooking the beach where you can watch the sunrise and is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner, keeping it a welcoming spot for locals and international guests alike.

Complementing the restaurant is The Jetty, a destination that captures the historic atmosphere of Hornbæk Harbour, where locals and visitors have gathered to watch the sunset for generations. Following the natural rhythm of the coast, the beverage program transitions from morning coffee and restorative, longevity juices to refined zero-proof drinks and signature sunset cocktails served at the water’s edge.

“In developing CORI, we wanted to go beyond the traditional coastal aesthetic and create something truly visionary that celebrates the incredible natural light and raw beauty of this coastline. By combining Scandinavian restraint with Mediterranean warmth, we have created a year-round retreat where guests can feel physically and mentally ‘uplifted’, whether it be a Michelin-caliber meal from Chef Brian Mark Hansen or the invigorating ritual of a dip in the cold sea, followed by our innovative treatments for longevity. It is a place where the rhythm of the waves lulls you to sleep and every detail is designed to help you exhale.” – Anya Brunander, CEO and co-owner of COPI

A gateway to the Copenhagen Riviera
Outside the resort, guests can explore the region’s cultural and natural riches, such as the UNESCO-listed Kronborg Castle – the setting of Shakespeare’s Hamlet – and museums including the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, which juxtaposes contemporary art against stunning coastal views. Active guests can take advantage of the peaceful trails of Hornbæk Plantation, a protected pine and heath forest, or take part in water sports and boat trips, including the hotel’s own J.Craft boat for private trips along the Riviera.

Rates at the CORI Hotel start from approximately DKK 4,700 per night.
