While Pelosi jumped on Kamala’s bandwagon, Harris confessed that she was stunned when Biden himself seemed to drag his feet before formally endorsing her.

In her own book about the 2024 elections, 107 daysHarris revealed her frustration with Biden’s plan to wait a few days to endorse her so he could effectively bask in the spotlight himself for a while.

Harris argued that waiting would have raised doubts among voters and donors, ultimately convincing him to go ahead.

However, when Biden spoke to the nation to explain his decision, Harris recalled, “It was almost nine minutes into the 11-minute speech before he mentioned me.”

The same thing happened a few weeks later at the Democratic National Convention.

“He spoke for nearly an hour, describing the achievements of our government,” Harris wrote. “It was a legacy speech for him, not an argument for me, and he had a right to it. But when we waited for some personal stories about working with me and what qualities he had seen that led him to support me, there were none.”
