Bertinelli also opened up about the cosmetic procedures she underwent in her recently published book, revealing she had a “complicated relationship” with her boyfriend after they were “relentlessly mocked.”

“They were called ‘little quarters,’ ‘little t——‘ and ‘little b——,'” she says. “I took it all to heart. Instead of appreciating the changes my body was going through, I was afraid of them. I had no idea what I should look like; I just knew it was wrong.”

She was soon given b—– implants, later developing an infection straight out of a “horror movie” after one of them ruptured following a scary fall.

“I sprinted down the stairs, tripped and landed on my right buttock. I heard a bang. I knew exactly what had happened,” she wrote.

Bertinelli discovered that one of the implants had ruptured. When her doctor showed her the old implants, she described them as looking like “ostrich eggs, hard and with a crust on them.”

“I couldn’t believe they were in my body. I went home, bandaged and sore, with drains under my arms, uncomfortable but hopeful,” she adds.

The Valerie’s home cooking The star revealed that everything was “great” for the first two weeks, but she later noticed her right breast starting to turn “shades of green, yellow and blue.”

“The next day it started to swell and turned dark purple,” she describes her body part. “I felt like I was getting dizzy. At night I got a fever.”

“When I got up, however, the pain was intense. My chest was pounding and it was getting worse. I knew I had to go to the doctor, but it was Saturday morning. I decided to wait until Monday,” she wrote. “By then I was really sick. My b—– was discolored, painful and swollen. I was burning up. Fluid was leaking from the stitches around my n—–.”

Three weeks later she underwent a procedure remove the infected implant.

Bertinelli explains: “The second surgery involved removing the implant and infecting the tissue around the muscle. The recovery took longer… The doctors called it cratering. The description was accurate. Another appropriate word was disgusting. Really disgusting. It looked like a horror movie – and it was. I had an open wound the size of a misshapen quarter and a hole more than an inch deep where my nipple used to be. My nipple, or what was left of it, was still holding. barely half an inch of its lifespan.”

She was given a small implant to repair what was left of it [her] n——” during a third surgery, almost seven months after she had her first corrective surgery.

During her recovery, Bertinelli hopes a fourth surgery will balance things out once and for all.

“They are two completely different sizes now. The implant on the left is over the muscle and my right side is sad and misshapen,” Bertinelli says of her b—— in the book. “In all seriousness, I’m lucky to have survived. That weekend scared the hell out of me. After a lifetime of thinking I needed to improve something about myself, this latest attempt was a doozie.”
