Andrew Windsor ‘fought after being called a pedophile’
Andrew Windsor was reportedly involved in a heated confrontation at his Norfolk home after an employee made a comment referencing his ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein – sources say RadarOnline.com the dispute escalated into a physical altercation that left the disgraced royal sporting his recent massive visible facial bruise.
The 66-year-old former Duke of York was photographed earlier this month with a distinctive blemish on the right side of his face while living at Marsh Farm Cottage on the Sandringham estate.
His injury led to widespread speculation about its cause, with reports ranging from a minor medical issue to an accident at home.
Sources now claim the bruise may have been related to an altercation involving workers near the property in the days before he was seen in public.
Andrew has largely lived out of the spotlight since settling a 2022 civil sex abuse lawsuit filed by Epstein’s most high-profile sex trafficking victim, Virginia Giuffre — while continuing to deny her allegations that he slept with her when she was a teenager.
Sources familiar with the apparent break-in that allegedly caused his bruised face said tensions flared after a provocative comment was made within earshot of the royal exile.
A palace insider told us: ‘What started as a routine exchange quickly grew into something much more confrontational. A comment was made alluding to the controversies that had dogged Andrew for years; from then on the mood changed dramatically. Those nearby could feel the tension almost immediately.
“The comment was seen as deeply personal and highly provocative, and struck a chord. Voices were raised, there was a lot of swearing from more than one direction and the situation became increasingly heated within seconds. People who witnessed it were amazed at how quickly things spiraled out of control as there were no obvious signs that tempers were about to flare.”
The source claimed: “It was the kind of confrontation that made everyone uncomfortable. There was genuine anger in the air, and several people felt that the exchange had gone much further than anyone had expected. In the aftermath, Andrew was seen with a prominent mark on his face, and there was immediate speculation among those present that the two incidents were linked, and that he had actually had a run-in with some workers on his estate.”
According to the claims, the confrontation started when a worker joked about finding “a classier kind of pedophile” on royal grounds as Andrew walked nearby.
Sources said a punch was then thrown during the exchange.
The alleged insult related to the long-running controversy surrounding Andrew’s alleged friendship with serial predator Epstein, who died in a New York jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.
Andrew has consistently denied wrongdoing and repeatedly rejected allegations that he engaged in sexual misconduct.
Those familiar with the royal family’s circumstances said public interference has become an increasingly common feature of his life since he stepped away from his royal duties.
One source said: ‘Since the Epstein scandal exploded into public view, Andrew has found he cannot escape the shadow it casts over his reputation. For many people, that controversy is the first thing they think of when they see him, and it has fundamentally changed the way he is perceived in public.
“There is a level of hostility and resentment directed towards him that simply did not exist before. He can be walking, attending an event, or going about the most ordinary of daily activities, and there is always the possibility that someone will make a comment, shout something across the street, or try to provoke a response.”
The insider continued: “Whether that treatment is justified or not is a matter of opinion, but what is beyond dispute is that he remains an intensely divisive figure. The accusations, the headlines and his association with Epstein are so deeply ingrained in the public consciousness that they continue to follow him wherever he goes.
“It is a burden he is unlikely to shake off anytime soon, and people close to him are acutely aware that he now lives with a level of public criticism and hostility that few members of the royal family have ever experienced.”
Claims of previous confrontations have also resurfaced following reports of the bruise.
Former aides and royal insiders claim Andrew has been embroiled in feuds with staff, advisers and acquaintances for years, often amid disputes over protocol or perceived disrespect.
Among the incidents cited are clashes with palace officials, military colleagues and business associates.
Allegations detailed in royal biographies have also reported heated disagreements involving members of the royal family, although several of those accounts have been disputed.
Andrew’s latest appearance came after a separate safety incident near Sandringham involving a 39-year-old man who was later charged with using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behavior.
The case will be heard in court, where Andrew is expected to testify.
