Mick Jagger stoked fear with Rolling Stones future promise

Mick Jagger has sparked new concerns among those closest to him after declaring he “can’t wait” to tour with The Rolling Stones again. RadarOnline.com there are now serious concerns that the relentless demands of life on the road could take a fatal toll on the 82-year-old rock icon.

Jagger, 82, made the comments while appearing on BBC Radio 2 Traces of my years along with fellow Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood, 78.

His comments came as the band prepared to release their 25th studio album, Foreign languageson July 10, following the success of 2023’s Grammy-winning Hackney Diamonds and a hugely successful 2024 North American tour.

More than 60 years after the group formed, fans continue to yearn for another world tour, but some within the singer’s inner circle are said to have mixed feelings about the prospect.

A source close to the band told us: “Mick’s enthusiasm for performing hasn’t waned at all, and that’s exactly what’s worrying some people around him. Most people his age would think about taking it easy, but he’s still willing to throw himself into the physical demands of a big tour.”

The source added: “Everyone admires his dedication and fitness, but there are genuine concerns about how tough life on the road can be. The travel, gigs and schedule would be exhausting for someone half his age. Friends don’t want him to push himself too hard simply because he refuses to acknowledge the passage of time, and they genuinely fear he might end up working himself to death to prove he still has it on stage.”

When asked if fans could expect The Rolling Stones to tour again, Jagger left little doubt about his intentions.

Another insider said the singer’s determination remains one of his defining characteristics.

The source said: “Mick has always been driven by performing. Being on stage is what energizes him and keeps him motivated. The challenge is that he still approaches these opportunities with the mentality of someone decades younger. Those closest to him are naturally concerned because they care about him and want him for many more years to come.”

The upcoming Stones album features collaborations with Paul McCartney, Robert Smith of The Cure and drummer Chad Smith.

In recent promotional appearances, Jagger was joined by bandmates Keith Richards, 82, and Wood, as well as comedian Conan O’Brien at an event in Brooklyn to discuss the Stones’ new album.

Richards also discussed the possibility of future touring during a recent interview.

He said: “I mean, we can talk next year. Possibly.

“Right now we’re basically saying we’ve finished the record, let’s do this. And so we’re considering what we’re going to do next, you know, pretty soon. But I don’t think… at least not this year.”

Jagger has previously spoken about the work required to maintain his stamina into his 80s.

He said: “Well, that’s just being fit. You have to work on that no matter what your age, and when you’re my age you really have to work on it. You don’t come out very well. You really have to work on it.
