Shannon Beador’s ex John Janssen recalls her ‘possessed’ DUI incident
Johannes Janssen talks about his experiences with ex-girlfriend Shannon Beador on the night of her DUI.
Janssen, 62, shared his side of the story of Entertainment tonight on Wednesday, November 27, detailing the events that led to Beador’s existence arrested and charged with a DUI and a collision in September 2023. In November The Real Housewives of Orange County star, 60, was sentenced to three years of informal probation and 40 hours of community service. At the time of her arrest, Beador’s blood alcohol level was more than 0.24 percent – three times the legal limit.
Janssen said Entertainment tonight that he had returned from a trip to Catalina Island with friends to find Beador in his home.
“We hadn’t talked,” he recalled. ‘I didn’t expect to see her there. The level of intoxication was shocking and her problem was that she had lost her phone. I was always there to help Shannon with her problems, and I think it was left in an Uber.
Janssen said that after the Uber driver delivered the phone to Beador’s house, he went there to place it near her door where he could easily find them. He didn’t want his ex to spend the night at his house.
“That’s where the story gets bad,” Janssen said. ‘She became extremely furious because I didn’t give her the phone back. It’s like she was possessed, and she kept physically attacking me for probably the next minute, and I’m pulling away the whole time.
Then his daughters showed up and he asked Beador to go. He claimed she responded by “screaming at the top of her lungs” and “threatening” his children. Around this time, Beader let her dog Archie, who was staying with Janssen, out.
“I have scratches on me and I’m quite upset,” he recalls.
Meanwhile, “Archie is running down the street now, so that’s causing a scene. And finally, she gets Archie. She comes by to try to pick up her car. I stood in front of her to prevent her from getting into her car, and finally said, “Shannon, you’re a drunk idiot and you’re making a big mistake.” And she gets in her car, backs out of my driveway and ends up inches from one of my daughters.”
Afterwards, Janssen backed off, “because there’s no way I’m going to touch her and then somehow have accusations against me for something else.” So she backs up, almost hits my daughter, and then runs around the corner, and we hear the crash.” (Beador had clipped another house with Archie in her car and fled the scene.)
Janssen ran towards the sound of the blow, but his daughters stopped him and said, ‘Daddy, you can’t go anywhere near her. We’re going.”
The police soon arrived at Janssen’s house and brought Archie back to him. Janssen recalled knowing then that Beador had been arrested. She didn’t respond to his calls and texts, so he confirmed with a hospital that she was there.
“I said, ‘Can I come see her?’ And [the nurse] said, ‘No, that’s not possible. You’re not allowed to see her. She is under arrest, so don’t come,” he said Entertainment tonight. “Then I was on the phone all night, without sleep [Beador’s] daughter, and the next morning I was at the police station waiting for her to be released from jail.”
The next morning, he picked Beador up from jail and “put aside my sadness, anger and frustration about being terrorized that night, and my daughter being terrorized that night.”
Janssen “took her home, I helped her undress, I bathed her, I fed her, I took her shopping, I took her laundry to the dry cleaners, I took her to her doctor’s appointments,” he said. “I took care of her for the next ten days. Is that a man who didn’t care?’
Later, something happened between Beador and one of his children that Janssen, without giving details, called “the straw that broke the camel’s back.” He called Beador and said, ‘I’m sorry, but I can’t be friends with you. I must separate myself completely from your world and your life.
Janssen said he decided to make it public that evening for the sake of clarity.
“I wanted this story to go away, and it’s really sad that it came up [Real Housewives] because that now forces my hand to explain it, because the way it is left now, there are too many negative consequences for me, and anyone who knows the whole truth of that night would not think that I did anything wrong ,” he said.
We weekly has contacted a representative of The Real Housewives of Orange County for comment.
Tamra Judge And Heather Dubrow said about the franchise last week’s reunion episode Janssen had heard Beador crash her car. Upon hearing this, Beador said she felt “numb,” admitting, “I heard him say I punched him.” But I don’t remember everything. I don’t know what I did that night.”
Beador was involved in a years-long legal battle with Janssen, who is engaged to it Alexis Bellino. Janssen previously sued Beador for breach of contract and promissory note fraud, claiming she failed to reimburse him for the $75,000 he spent on her facelift.
Initially, Beador agreed to pay him half the amount, but changed her mind when she learned he allegedly had footage of her 2023 DUI arrest. She offered another amount in exchange for a non-disparagement agreement, but Janssen refused.
It was confirmed by Us on Nov. 19 that Janssen and Beador had reached an agreement to dismiss the lawsuit, with Janssen filing a notice of settlement. On November 21, Beador uploaded a screenshot of her “outward transfer receipt” via her Instagram Story for an amount of $60,000. She captioned the post with “Enjoy” and tagged Bellino and Janssen’s official accounts.
In July, Beador got candid with it Us about how she’s still trying to better herself after her DUI arrest last year.
“I’ve done a lot and I have more to do,” Beador said. “I work with my therapist and I have a psychiatrist from the program I went to for 30 days. And I feel like I’m growing. I’m on a healthier path and I’m trying to take every positive thing out of a terrible situation.”
