Denzel Washington Says He’ll Join ‘Black Panther 3’ Before Retirement
Denzel Washingtonhas one legendary resume as an actor, and it looks like he’s gearing up to cap his career with a string of epic roles, including an iconic Marvel movie.
The Oscar winner said he’s not sure how many more roles he’ll take on, mainly because he’s super selective as he approaches 70 — but he’s pitched that director Ryan Coogler‘ lands him a role in the third ‘Black Panther’ film.
Denzel dropped the news on Australia’s “Today“… casually listing a few roles he plans to play before officially throwing in the towel — “Othello”… an untitled Netflix film about the historical Carthaginian general Hannibal, directed by Antoine Fuqua… “King Lear “… and one Steve McQueen film. It’s unclear what order these four films will be produced in, but the real mic drop moment is his “Black Panther” tease right there.
There’s no official confirmation of his claim yet, but if this happens, it will be Denzel’s Marvel debut – and things will come full circle.
The late Chadwick Boseman once mentioned that Denzel actually helped pay for his acting school, so the OG 2018 ‘Black Panther’ wouldn’t even exist without him.
Denzel’s “BP” reveal came in the middle of his promotional tour for “Gladiator II,” which is stealing the spotlight thanks to all the Oscar buzz it’s generating. Just another day in Denzel’s world!
