‘Chicago PD’ star LaRoyce Hawkins will leave the series in season 14

“Chicago PD” star LaRoyce Hawkins is leaving the long-running NBC drama, Variety has confirmed this with sources.

Hawkins, who has been involved with the show since its launch in the role of Agent Kevin Atwater, will depart during the upcoming 14th season. Exactly how his character will leave the series is still being kept under wraps, but sources say it will happen early in the season. Hawkins also played Atwater in several crossovers with the other “One Chicago” shows on NBC.

In addition to his work on “Chicago PD,” Hawkins has appeared in series such as “Ironheart” for Disney+ and Marvel, as well as “Power Book IV: Force” and “Ballers.”

All three “One Chicago” shows — “Chicago PD,” “Chicago Fire” and “Chicago Med” — scored early renewals at NBC this year. That brings “Chicago Fire” to its 15th season, “Chicago PD” to its 14th and “Chicago Med” to its 12th. All three shows will return on October 7 for the 2026-2027 broadcast season.

All three shows remain a fixture in NBC’s primetime lineup, even this late in their run. They will continue to support NBC’s Wednesday night program and broadcast it back-to-back. On March 4, NBC aired another “One Chicago” crossover event, resulting in all three shows reaching season highs in total viewers.

“Chicago PD” stars Jason Beghe, Patrick John Flueger, Marina Squerciati, Benjamin Levy Aguilar, Amy Morton and Arienne Mandi. It is produced by Universal Television in association with Wolf Entertainment. Dick Wolf, Peter Jankowski and Anastasia Puglisi are executive producers along with Gwen Sigan, Chad Saxton, Rebecca McGill, Gavin Harris and Beghe.
