In Nancy Guthrie’s disturbing ransom notes after ‘death’ claim

In the days after Savannah Guthrie’s mother was reported missing, several ransom notes were reportedly sent to the media, including TMZ and local news station KOLD News 13. KOLD anchor Mary Coleman confirmed this during a February 4 appearance on CNN’s Erin Burnett OutFront that the news station received an alleged ransom note via email on February 2, detailing a damaged spotlight and the location of an Apple Watch left in Nancy’s home.
“There are a few things we can share, as far as the content of it,” she said of the “concerning” communications.
Coleman added: “A lot of it is information that only someone holding her for ransom would know – very sensitive information and things that people who were there when she was captured would know.”
Meanwhile, the FBI said the ransom note, which reportedly demanded $4 million in Bitcoin, set a deadline of February 5 at 5 p.m.
“If no transfer occurred, the second requirement was for next Monday. I won’t go any further than that,” said FBI Phoenix Special Agent Heith Janke.
During the investigation, Savannah appeared in a video alongside her siblings, Camron and Annie, to advocate for their mother’s safe return.
“We have also heard the reports about a ransom note in the media,” Savannah said in the newspaper February 4 fragment. “As a family we do everything we can. We are willing to talk.”
On February 7, they uploaded a follow-up video, telling Nancy’s would-be kidnapper that they had “been captured.” [the] message” and they “understand.”
“We now beg you to return our mother to us so that we can celebrate with her,” the broadcaster continued. “This is the only way we can achieve peace. This is very valuable to us and we will pay for it.”
