PARADISE PLAINS REOPENED FOR THE SEASON IN THE HEART OF THE MASAI MARA IN KENYA | News

Paradise Plains, Wilder’s luxury safari camp in the heart of the world-famous Masai Mara National Reserve, has officially reopened its doors for the 2026 safari season, debuting two exciting additions designed to elevate the safari experience while staying true to its commitment to conservation and community.
The camp’s innovative new Sky Walk – an elevated walkway and viewing platform 4.2 meters above the ground – provides guests with a unique vantage point over the surrounding wilderness, with excellent opportunities to observe abundant bird life, see herds of elephants roaming underfoot and move through the camp without disrupting the natural corridors of wildlife or leaving a significant footprint on the environment.
Opening in August 2026, Paradise Plains’ new Coffee Bar will be a relaxing space where guests can enjoy expertly crafted coffee and light refreshments while taking in the sights and sounds of the Mara.
New for this season, reflecting the growing demand for experiences that prioritize wellness alongside adventure, Paradise Plains has introduced a range of wellness-focused menus, including a 100% plant-based offering, the ‘Eat Like a Yogi’ menu and a Matcha & Detox menu. The menus are designed to nourish the body, support exercise and improve holistic health. They combine nutrient-rich ingredients with flavorful cuisine, allowing guests to dine more consciously while immersed in the restorative nature of the Masai Mara.
Together with the camp’s nine designer suites, gourmet restaurant, spa, gym and infinity pool, these offerings further enhance Paradise Plains’ immersive and wellness-focused safari experience, combining authentic wilderness encounters with refined luxury.
PARADISE PLAINS SKY WALK – NEW FOR SUMMER 2026
The expansive Sky Walk stretches the width of the camp’s nine luxury guest suites, offering a unique perspective of the Masai Mara’s famed wildlife, including its remarkable birdlife, all year round. With more than 500 recorded species, the reserve is one of Africa’s most important birding destinations. This new elevated walkway provides direct access and minimizes disruption to local wildlife and the surrounding ecosystem, while allowing guests to observe many of these animals at eye level among the treetops.
The rhythms of the Mara ensure constant change and diversity in bird life. During the dry season (June to October), clear skies and shorter grasses make for excellent sightings of native species including martial eagles, secretary birds, hornbills and huge flocks of red-billed queleas, while herons, kingfishers and storks gather around the Mara River and nearby wetlands. The short rains (November to December) bring an influx of migratory visitors, such as European bee-eaters, steppe eagles and brightly colored warblers, in addition to the start of the breeding season, when courtship and nesting activities are in full swing. During the lush green months of the long rainfall (March to May) birdlife reaches its peak, with crowned cranes, honeybirds and a wide range of migratory birds appearing in their vibrant breeding plumage, while elusive forest dwellers such as the Narina trogon become easier to spot in the riverine forests.
Throughout the seasons, guests may encounter some of the Mara’s most iconic species, including Kenya’s national bird, the lilac-breasted roller, the unmistakable African fish eagle, as well as turacos, Meyer’s parrots and a variety of birds of prey.
PARADISE PLAINS COFFEE BAR – COMING IN AUGUST 2026
Opening in August, the new Coffee Bar at Paradise Plains will offer guests a relaxing retreat between safari adventures – seamlessly integrated into the camp’s canvas-and-wood environment, with views over the vast savannah. Designed to follow the natural flow of camp life, the open-air space provides a tranquil setting for a morning coffee before a game drive, a light refreshment during the day or a quiet moment as lanterns illuminate the camp at dusk. With open seating under canvas shade and acacia trees, guests can enjoy the sights and sounds of the wilderness, often accompanied by distant wildlife sightings and the natural soundtrack of the African bush.
Showcasing the natural brightness, clarity and depth of Kenya’s famous coffee, the Coffee Bar serves a variety of freshly brewed Kenyan coffees all day, alongside espresso-based drinks, pour-overs, slow-brew options and a selection of teas and a special detox and matcha menu. A menu of freshly prepared snacks, including seasonal fruit, homemade cakes, safari biscuits, granola bars and healthy energy bites, provides nourishment between game drives, spa treatments and other camp activities.
Matcha and detox blends
Complementing the Coffee Bar’s offering is a wellness-focused menu of matcha blends, nutrient-rich smoothies and restorative juices designed to support energy, recovery and overall wellbeing. Inspired by the camp’s holistic approach to wellness, the menu includes functional blends such as the tropical Tropic-Aid, a combination of mango, papaya and coconut water to promote hydration and replenish electrolytes, and Plant Power, a nourishing blend of avocado, kale, banana and plant protein that provides long-lasting energy for active days on safari. For post-game drive recovery, guests can opt for Muscle Milk, made with banana, cocoa, dates and linseed to support muscle recovery and replenish essential nutrients, while antioxidant-rich favorites such as the Berry Quencher help combat oxidative stress and boost vitality.
In addition to smoothies, a selection of extracts based on fresh vegetables provide a natural detox and well-being boost. Signature blends include the Lymph Purifier, a refreshing combination of cucumber, celery, kale and lemon, designed to support the body’s natural cleansing processes, and Body Armour, packed with carrot, spinach, parsley, ginger and turmeric to boost immunity. Guests can also enjoy the soothing Stress Reliever Juice, which combines carrot, apple, fennel and ginger to support balance and relaxation.
