Vietnam Airlines remains among the top 100 companies in the Fortune Southeast Asia 500 | News

Vietnam Airlines has further strengthened its position among Southeast Asia’s leading companies, securing a place in the Top 100 of the Fortune Southeast Asia 500 2026 for the third consecutive year. The national carrier is the only Vietnamese airline and one of only three airlines included in this Top 100, alongside Singapore Airlines and Thai Airways International.
The Fortune Southeast Asia 500, Fortune’s annual ranking of the region’s largest companies by revenue, highlights companies accounting for a growing share of regional economic growth. In the 2026 rankings, Vietnam Airlines rose three places to 83rd, compared to 86th in the previous year. For fiscal 2025, the airline generated revenues of more than $4.66 billion, up 10.2% year-over-year, with profits of $277 million and total assets of nearly $2.8 billion.
This upward movement is a commendable achievement, especially against the backdrop of a higher revenue threshold for inclusion on this year’s list, underscoring the scale and resilience of Vietnam Airlines’ operations in an increasingly competitive regional landscape.
The year 2025 marked the strongest operating performance in Vietnam Airlines’ history, reflecting the effectiveness of recovery, restructuring and operational optimization after a period of significant volatility in the aviation market. The airline operated 156,300 flights, up 11.8% year-on-year, carried 25.64 million passengers, up 12.7%, and carried 344,000 tons of cargo, up 10% compared to the previous year.
Vietnam Airlines continued to accelerate the expansion of its international network by launching and reestablishing fourteen international routes by 2025, connecting Vietnam with key markets in Europe, Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia and South Asia. This momentum has continued in 2026 with the inauguration of the airline’s new non-stop service between Hanoi and Amsterdam, expanding the European network to 12 non-stop services to 8 destinations: Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Frankfurt, London, Milan, Moscow, Munich and Paris.
In addition to strong business performance, Vietnam Airlines continued to strengthen its global brand reputation through a series of prestigious international awards. The airline was recognized by AirlineRatings as one of the Top 25 Airlines in the World and the Top 25 Safest Full-Service Airlines in the World for 2025, while also receiving the APEX Five Star Major Airline award. Recently, Cirium, the strategic partner of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), ranked Vietnam Airlines third among the top 10 most on-time airlines in Asia Pacific for 2026, with an on-time arrival rate of 87.77%. The recognition underlines the airline’s operational reliability and efficiency amid continued growth in air travel demand.
Vietnam Airlines continues to invest significantly in service quality and customer experience as it works towards its goal of becoming a five-star airline by 2030. The airline is continuously improving the passenger journey through a range of initiatives, including the launch of a dedicated Check-in Lounge for premium customers at Terminal 3 of Tan Son Nhat International Airport, upgrades to ground services at key airports, the introduction of inflight internet connectivity and the accelerated adoption of digital technologies. In a groundbreaking move, Vietnam Airlines also became the first airline in Vietnam to introduce a signature brand scent, creating a distinctive and consistent sensory experience at every customer touchpoint.
While delivering strong revenue growth and operational performance, Vietnam Airlines remains firmly committed to sustainable development. In 2025, the airline implemented a series of initiatives to reduce emissions and optimize resource efficiency, including fuel-saving measures, the reduction of single-use plastics, the phase-in of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and the creation of the Green Alliance to promote environmental and social initiatives.
Vietnam Airlines’ continued rise in the Fortune Southeast Asia 500 reflects the effectiveness of its sustainable growth strategy, strong corporate governance and its ability to adapt in a rapidly evolving business environment. This achievement not only marks a new milestone for Vietnam Airlines, but also highlights the growing presence and competitiveness of Vietnamese companies on the regional and global stage.
