Viking takes delivery of the newest river vessels in Europe | News

Viking® (www.viking.com) has announced that it has taken delivery of its newest river vessels, the Viking Annar and the Viking Fjolvar. Both ships were built at Meyer’s Neptun Werft shipyard in Rostock-Warnemünde, Germany. The Viking Annar will sail Viking routes on the Rhine, Main and Danube, while the Viking Fjolvar will sail routes on the River Seine.

“We are proud to welcome Viking Annar and Viking Fjolvar to our growing fleet of award-winning river vessels,” said Leah Talactac, President and CEO of Viking. “Exploring the river offers an unparalleled way to discover the history, culture and local life of a destination, and these new ships allow even more curious travelers to experience Europe in Viking comfort.”

The Viking Annar

The Viking Annar can accommodate 190 guests in 95 staterooms and is specially built to navigate the Rhine, Main and Danube. As a Viking Longship, the ship features an elegant Scandinavian design and the industry-leading innovations that Viking is known for, such as a patented square bow allowing the ship to have three full decks and an indoor and outdoor Aquavit terrace, as well as asymmetrical corridors allowing Viking to offer true two-room suites.

The Viking Annar will sail routes including the Rhine Holiday, the Grand European Tour, the Passage to Eastern Europe, the European sojourn and Christmas on the Rhine.

The Viking Fjolvar

The Viking Fjolvar accommodates 168 guests in 84 staterooms and is purpose-built to navigate the Seine and dock at Viking’s exclusive mooring in the heart of Paris. The ship features the same design elements as Viking Longships and will sail round-trip from Paris on routes along the Seine, including Paris and the Heart of Normandy and the New Christmas Season in Paris and Normandy.
