United Airlines recognized with multiple awards at the 40th Anniversary Business Traveler Awards | News
United Airlines has been recognized with multiple awards at the 40th Anniversary Business Traveler Cellars in the Sky Awards in London, further cementing the airline’s position as a leader in premium inflight wine experiences.
The airline received a gold medal in the ‘Business Class Red Wine’ category for The Mascot Cabernet Sauvignon 2019, which was praised by the jury for its “exceptional depth, rich fruit tannins, great balance and presence”. United also achieved gold in the ‘Drinks Innovation: Bespoke Drinks Partnership’ category for its collaboration with Champagne Laurent-Perrier and the bespoke Laurent-Perrier “La Cuvée”, UA 100, created to celebrate United’s 100th anniversary and mark a century of connecting customers around the world.
Further recognition came with a silver award for VIK 2021 in the ‘Business Class Red Wine’ category, while Laurent-Perrier La Cuvée Champagne received a ‘Highly Commended’ award in the ‘Business Class Sparkling Wine’ category.
The awards reflect United’s continued investments in its inflight wine program. Over the past two years, the airline has invested nearly $35 million to take its wine offering to the next level, partnering with some of the world’s most respected wineries to create a carefully curated experience for customers throughout their journey. United Polaris business class now features premium labels including The Mascot, Laurent-Perrier Champagne and wines from Heitz Cellar and Shafer Vineyards. The airline has also expanded access to select California wines previously reserved for Business Class and Economy customers.
“These awards reflect our continued commitment to providing our customers with a world-class wine experience,” said Aaron McMillan, Managing Director of Hospitality Programs, United Airlines. “From exclusive partnerships to award-winning wines, our focus is on creating a refined sommelier-level experience at 10,000 meters.”
The awards were judged through a blind tasting process, conducted by an independent panel of leading wine experts and Masters of Wine, led by Charles Metcalfe.
