A first for Namibia – Onguma’s new Onkolo Soundscapes | News

Onguma Safari Camps in Namibia has just launched Onkolo Soundscapes, a brand new activity in the reserve – and the first experience of its kind in Namibia.
Using a network of sensitive microphones discreetly and strategically placed around Onguma’s Onkolo Hide at water level, the system captures and amplifies the living soundscape of the surrounding bushveld, far beyond what the human ear can perceive alone. The result is an intimate, sensory encounter that completely changes the way guests experience the African bush.
Imagine…
The hum of a dragonfly or butterfly in flight.
The lapping of lions quenching their thirst.
The small footsteps of a bird and the distant cry of a sea eagle.
The thud of a frog jumping from its lily pad.
The growl of a wildebeest – or better yet, a rhino…
It is a heavenly “safari massage for the ears”…

The experience is particularly suitable for bird watchers, photographers and guests looking for something more mindful and immersive in addition to their standard game drive programme.
