One million passengers on long-haul flights: Air Serbia marks historic milestone | News

Air Serbia has achieved a major milestone in its operations: carrying one million passengers on its long-haul network since the launch of intercontinental flights in 2016.

This milestone confirms the national carrier’s stable growth and continued demand for long-haul destinations, as well as Air Serbia’s increasingly prominent role in improving international connections for Serbia and the region.

Since the introduction of the first long-haul flights, Air Serbia has established direct flights between Belgrade and key global destinations such as New York, Chicago, Guangzhou and Shanghai, further anchoring Belgrade as a relevant point connecting Europe with North America and China. To crown this successful expansion of the long-haul network, direct flights between Belgrade and Toronto have resumed after a 34-year hiatus, which is a historic step in connecting Serbia with its numerous diaspora and responding to long-standing market demands.

“Reaching the millionth passenger on long-haul flights is a significant moment for our airline and confirms the trust our passengers have placed in us for almost a decade. We are extremely pleased to mark this milestone during a period of network expansion. Just a few days ago, after a 34-year hiatus, we restarted direct Belgrade-Toronto flights, and we will also soon celebrate the tenth anniversary of the service to New York. The new service to Toronto is particularly important, given the numerous diasporas, as well as the long-standing demand for a direct connection. Such network development provides passengers with better connectivity to crucial destinations around the world,” said Jiří Marek, CEO of Air Serbia.
