Patrick J. Adams says it was ‘obvious’ Meghan Markle would release ‘Suits’
She may have married a prince, but… Meghan Markle also once had a sizzling romance (on-screen) with a high-profile lawyer: To take costar Patrick J Adams.
Adams, 43, played Markle’s love interest Mike Ross on the USA Network series from 2011 to 2018. During his appearance on Tuesday, October 1 episode of “Sidebar: A Suits Watch” podcast, the actor revealed that the pair had chemistry from the start.
“It was pretty clear, if I remember correctly, that she was going to get the part [of Rachel Zane] ever since we read the chemistry,” Adams shared on the SiriusXm podcast. “It was just so much easier than anyone else.”
The actor recalled that he and Markle, 43, previously worked together on a failed pilot, Good behaviorand chalk their spark in the To take audition for a previous meeting on set.
“When I went in to do chemistry, I read along [potential actresses for] Rachel, [Meghan] was there and she said, ‘Hi’,” the Get me out actor remembered from the audition. “And I said, ‘Oh my God, so good to see you!’”
Adams said fame helped ease the pressure to quickly connect with a potential on-screen love interest.
“It really helped to get to know each other and calm down and not have the nerves of just getting to know each other,” Adams continued. “It was just obvious that we were easy to get along with when we went into that room.”
During their run on the hit drama, Adams and Markle’s characters Mike and Rachel struck up a romance while working together at a law firm.
Their story culminated in a wedding at the end of season 7, after which both Adams and Markle left the show in real life. (To take ultimately ran for 9 seasons from 2011 to 2019. At the same time, Markle married Prince Harry40, the same year, during a royal wedding, watched by an estimated 1.9 billion viewers around the world, according to media reports. The couple has since welcomed two children together: Archie, born in May 2019, and Lilibet, born in June 2021.
Ahead of the wedding, Adams referenced his and Markle’s relationship, joking via Instagram, “I’m starting to think she might not actually be getting milk.” #royalwedding.”
