Hilton signs Umfolozi River Hotel, KwaZulu Natal, Hilton’s Tapestry Collection in South Africa | News


Hilton has announced the signing of Umfolozi River Hotel, KwaZulu Natal, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, in partnership with Umfolozi Hotel and Spa (Pty) Ltd. The hotel is expected to open in 2028 and marks the second signing of the brand’s Tapestry Collection in South Africa in the past year, demonstrating Hilton’s continued growth in key leisure destinations in the country. The signing took place during Africa’s Travel Indaba in Durban with representatives from Hilton, Umfolozi Hotel and Spa (Pty) Ltd and Valor Hospitality Partners.

Located in Mtubatuba in the Zulu cultural heartland, the Umfolozi River Hotel will be rooted in a region known for its cultural significance and natural landscapes. The area is home to attractions such as the Valley of the Chiefs and local villages that offer insights into traditional Zulu life, history and craftsmanship. The hotel also offers access to some of South Africa’s most famous natural attractions, including the Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Game Reserve, approximately 30 minutes away, and the iSimangaliso Wetland Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its diverse ecosystems.

Umfolozi River Hotel, Tapestry Collection by Hilton will feature 102 rooms and suites, in addition to leisure, wellness and event facilities, including an all-day restaurant, lobby café and bar, spa, gym, swimming pool, as well as two meeting rooms and a ballroom for corporate events and social gatherings. Located in the forests of KwaZulu-Natal, guests can enjoy an immersive, locally inspired stay, with community-driven experiences that connect guests to the culture and heritage of the destination.

The property will be operated by Valor Hospitality Partners, a global leader in integrated hotel management and operations solutions, and one of Hilton’s trusted hospitality partners.
