Malaysia Airlines maintains focus on operational consistency and greater flexibility for travelers | News

Malaysia Airlines continues to focus on operational consistency and customer flexibility in today’s changing operating environment.
The airline maintained an on-time performance (OTP) above 90% in April, marking the second consecutive month in which the average OTP was above 90%, while consistently exceeding its 85% target since January 2026. This sustained performance reflects ongoing operational improvements across the network, including improvements to boarding processes and ground support, contributing to a smoother and more reliable travel experience for customers.
Customer demand has also remained encouraging. In March, passenger traffic rose 30% year-on-year (year-on-year), with positive momentum continuing in April as traffic grew 8% year-on-year. The continued growth reflects stable underlying travel demand in key markets, even as the broader aviation environment continues to evolve.
Bryan Foong, Chief Executive Officer of Malaysia Aviation Group’s Airline Business, said: “We recognize that travelers today are navigating a more uncertain environment and that reliability and flexibility remain important when planning their travels. Our focus remains on delivering safe and reliable operations, while providing our customers with the flexibility and support they need as travel patterns continue to evolve. The operational consistency we have seen in recent months, together with continued customer demand in key markets, is an encouraging reflection of the steady progress being made within the airline is booked. Above all, our priority is to ensure customers feel supported and confident throughout their journey with us.”
Recognizing that travelers are increasingly seeking both security and value, Malaysia Airlines has introduced its ‘Now Boarding’ campaign in key markets. The campaign brings together customer-focused offers designed to support more flexible and confident travel decisions.
Central to this is the airline’s Flex fare family, which allows unlimited flight changes at no extra cost, providing greater peace of mind as plans evolve. For families planning their vacation, Malaysia Airlines also offers children’s fares in addition to special on-board activity packages for young travelers, creating a more enjoyable and seamless travel experience for families. Customers who book directly through the Malaysia Airlines website or official mobile app can also enjoy exclusive benefits* including 5% discount on flights for Enrich members, up to 15% discount on privileges at Maybank and cashback of up to RM150 with UnionPay, helping them get more value from their travel.
The airline’s progress is further reflected in the continued growth of its brand value. In Brand Finance’s latest Airlines 50 2026 report, Malaysia Airlines recorded the highest brand value growth among Malaysian airlines. Brand value rose 27% to $771 million, with the airline rising four places to 41st globally, supported by continued recovery and a continued focus on delivering a premium, customer-centric experience.
Malaysia Airlines will build on these efforts while strengthening the overall travel experience for customers across its network.
