Celebrate Eid Al Adha under a rare blue moon at Desert Rock | News

This Eid Al Adha, Desert Rock Resort invites guests to celebrate the occasion with Once in a Blue Moon, a series of exclusive evenings bringing together Osman Sezener gastronomy, guided astronomy and live electronic music. Located in the Hijaz Mountains on the Red Sea, just 20 minutes from the Red Sea International Airport, and recognized with two Michelin keys in its first year, the resort offers one of the most striking locations in the region for the celebration.
The Once in a Blue Moon package runs from May 22 to 30, from 6:30 PM to 1:00 AM and costs SAR 980 per person, including VAT. It includes the resort’s signature culinary destination, NYRA, a guided stargazing experience at The Astronomy Center, and rooftop music and 0.0% ABV mixology at MICA.
A sublime evening
As dusk falls over the Hijaz, NYRA wakes up with a welcome drink and a five-course menu from Michelin-starred Chef Osman Sezener, rooted in living fire, dry aging and the soulful traditions of Aegean cuisine. The kitchen uses wood-fired techniques and carefully selected ingredients from land and sea, and the dining room is designed to make the cooking itself part of the occasion.
As the mountains fall in silver light, guests move to the Astronomy Center on the MICA roof for a guided stargazing session led by Akun’s experts. With a state-of-the-art telescope, minimal light pollution and high-altitude clarity, guests can observe the night sky and the rare lunar cycle in full clarity.
The final chapter unfolds at MICA with an energetic set by DJ Leo, paired with 0.0% ABV mocktails created by renowned mixologist Matthias Giroud and shisha service. Inspired by smoke, fire and native Saudi ingredients, MICA reflects the natural essence of the surrounding mountains.
Families who book this package also receive free access to the Kids’ Club, where a children’s disco will keep younger guests entertained all night long.
A stay worth extending
In addition to the evening experience, Desert Rock offers a full program of outdoor adventures, cultural encounters and culinary moments. Scenic walks, Via Ferrata, zip lining, abseiling and conservation-led nature walks offer the adventurous side, while Saudi cooking classes, falcon shows, camel rides and Saudi storytelling coffee ceremonies offer a deeper connection to the region’s heritage. Complimentary valet parking is available for guests arriving by car, and Saudi nationals and residents are invited to explore exclusive staycation offers throughout the Eid period.
