Etihad Airways honors Ramadan traditions across its network | News

Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, brings traditional Emirati Ramadan experiences to life through thoughtful moments at various guest touchpoints around the world, celebrating the start of the holy month and inviting guests to share in the rich Emirati culture that the airline proudly reflects.
Turky Alhammadi, Director Product and Hospitality at Etihad Airways, said: “We are excited to offer our guests a thoughtful experience this Ramadan, sharing beloved traditions and flavors, inspired by the Emirati hospitality we champion, and bringing a sense of community to our guests across the network. This holy time is an opportunity to bring our guests together through authentic flavors, meaningful gestures and a deep respect for the traditions that define this holy month, and reflects Etihad’s commitment to cultural connection and increased hospitality. This year we enriched the guest journey with additional moments of comfort, community and reflection, both on the ground and in the air.”
A curated culinary journey
Throughout the month of Ramadan, Etihad will offer guests a curated culinary journey featuring authentic Arabic flavors and traditional Ramadan favourites, made with fresh, regional ingredients to showcase the flavor of the UAE and demonstrate the airline’s commitment to quality and sustainable ingredients, with all guests traveling to Abu Dhabi and beyond invited to join in the festivities.
From the ground up, guests can choose from a wide choice of Ramadan-inspired dishes and iftar platters in the Business and First lounges at Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi and at the Etihad Lounge at London Heathrow, with showstoppers such as Arabic spiced grilled lobster, complemented by sweet treats such as date kunafa or a rose and pomegranate mousse cake.
Guests traveling in premium cabins will enjoy many of the same authentic flavors with dishes such as an Arabic mixed grill and a wide choice of desserts, including Ramadan favorites such as cardamom and date pudding, pistachio caramel cake with strawberries, saffron and orange cake or a rose and pomegranate mousse cake. Travelers can also opt for an Iftar platter or a healthy Iftar salad infused with rich Emirati flavors for something lighter during Ramadan in both First and Business cabins across the network.
Economy passengers are offered the same Emirati-infused Ramadan classics, such as tender Arabic braised lamb or chicken on a bed of vermicelli rice, topped with fragrant fried onions, cashews and raisins for the main course and a choice of traditional Emirati delicacies for dessert.
For guests celebrating Ramadan and whose flight times fall outside Iftar and Suhoor, the airline will provide grab-and-go bags before boarding or after disembarking.
Ramadan on E-Box and in Abu Dhabi
To encourage guests in each cabin to explore the traditions of Ramadan practiced by different cultures around the world, Etihad has carefully curated a selection of Ramadan programs and religious content to immerse in during the flight with the airline’s signature E-BOX entertainment system in March.
Ramadan content on E-Box includes a selection of cooking shows, including one in which various artists demonstrate how to prepare a wide range of well-loved dishes, so guests can follow along and be inspired to cook their own meals. Additionally, guests can discover how different cultures around the world celebrate Ramadan with a series illustrating the diversity of the global Muslim community.
For guests spending time in Abu Dhabi, whether as a holiday destination, taking advantage of Etihad’s Stopover program or for those who call Abu Dhabi home, the March edition of the airline’s inflight magazine Beyond will discuss various events in Abu Dhabi and provide recommendations on where visitors can experience the best Ramadan atmosphere in the city.
Umrah travel
Etihad recently relaunched its direct flights from Abu Dhabi to Madinah, providing guests traveling to Umrah during Ramadan with a direct and seamless connection to the holy city. The route has been running four times a week since its launch in November 2025.
