Savannah Bananas’ Jackson Olson does Taylor Swift ‘Opalite’ dance

Everyone does it, so why not Jackson Olson? The popular infielder from the viral baseball team Savannah Bananas is beloved for his fun, silly TikTok videos and now he’s hopping on a trend tailor-made for his antics. In a TikTok posted over the weekend, Olson and Party Animals rival Dalton Ponce let their hair down by participating in the Taylor Swift-spawned “Opalite” dance challenge.

In the 30 second clipOlson and Ponce tackle the choreo from Swift’s throwback video for the pop charmer of hers The life of a showgirl album, which perfectly recreates the jazzy dance moves seen in the song’s official video, which Swift wrote and directed, and features The paper actor Domhnall Gleeson.

The ballers open by doing a side bow, with Olson smiling as he looks over his shoulder at Ponce, and the two men then jump toward each other and high-five as Swift sings about “dancing through the lightning strikes.” They grab each other’s hands and push and pull their arms across the field before a hard cut takes them to a ballroom, where they lunge forward while holding hands, with Olson making a big show of jumping down a single step.

“This will be seen in history classes in thirty years,” the video caption reads.

The two men continue their energetic routine as the camera cuts to some fellow Bananas and Animals teammates who don’t seem to be feeling it. As the pair point and dance around each other under a disco ball, the scores come in from the judges and, just like in the Swift original, they’re… not good. All zeros, including from Bananas head coach/manager Tyler Gillum.

So far, Swift has released three versions of the video, starting with the original and then, last week, two extended versions featuring never-before-seen footage and behind-the-scenes Easter eggs. Since then, the buzzy dance challenge has exploded on TikTok, with countless fans recreating the silly dance moves from the clip in their kitchens, parking garages, living rooms, Times Square And hospital corridors.

Following the release of the star-studded “Opalite” video, Swift landed at No. 1 on the UK Singles Chart on February 13, giving the singer her sixth chart-topper of her UK career.
