Even though he lost to Jake Paul in 2022, Anderson Silva has nothing but praise for the man… telling TMZ Sports El Gallo deserves more credit, not only for what he has done in boxing, but also for his fighting skills.
We caught up with Spider to talk all about his upcoming fight against Tyron Woodley on the December 19 card in Miami … and the martial arts legend says his main goal is to prove his respect for the sport and his opponent.
Silva originally planned to go against the opponent Chris Weidman …but even with the switcharoo he’s feeling good and confident leading up to fight night.
Of course, Spider AND Woodley fought and lost to Paul… and he said he’s been watching his opponent’s fights against the internet superstar as part of his training.
As for teaming up with Most Valuable Promotions again, Silva said the organization is doing a “great job” … especially now that Paul is “changing the game” for fighters and fans.
While people will be watching to see two champions battle it out, all eyes will also be on Paul versus Silva… and while he didn’t make any predictions about the outcome, there was plenty of praise for the Problem Kid.
Silva mentions “lazy people” who criticize Paul… because they don’t put as much work into his craft as he does… they just talk.
“People don’t give Jake credit, and people need to do that. I respect Jake. He’s a real fighter.”
