Emma Heming defends Bruce Willis’ move for care as he battles dementia

And it wasn’t a decision Emma had to make alone.

“The whole family was very involved,” says a source RadarOnline.comincluding Demi Moore, 62, the actor’s ex-wife, and their daughters, Rumer, 37, Scout, 34, and Tallulah, 31.

Still, Emma was the main caregiver until recently, the source added. ‘She did everything she could. Now she has a team of caregivers who specialize in this kind of thing.’

There were signs that the Die hard actor was having a hard time. His childhood stutter returned and he began to forget his lines. The actor’s family also started noticing a change in his personality.

“For someone who is very talkative and very involved, he was a little quieter,” Emma said. “He felt a bit removed, a bit cold, not like Bruce, who is very warm and affectionate. The opposite of that was alarming and scary.”

The FTD diagnosis finally gave his family answers, but also left them without any hope, Emma admitted.

There is no treatment or cure for the disease.

“To leave there with… nothing, just nothing. With a diagnosis I couldn’t pronounce. I didn’t understand what it was,” she recalled. “I was so panicked. I just remember hearing it and not hearing anything else. It was like I was in free fall.”
