Streaming Platform Zeam acquires Newson from Sinclair Broadcast Group

Streamer Zeam has taken over the Newson Local Broadcast streaming platform from Sinclair Broadcast Group. The deal comes when ZEAM wants to expand its offer and broaden the reach of its public offers.
Zeam is a groundbreaking streaming technology company that was launched in 2009 as a service designed to support local broadcasters when they first started tipping in the streaming rich. Nowadays Zeam treats the Backend technology to support the live streams of all CBS stations and the live streams of CBS branches that are supported on the Paramount+ platform.
News about the sale of the Newson comes a day after Sinclair announced that it is investigating strategic alternatives for his large station group and possibly other assets.
In recent years, ZEAM has been starting to promote its platform as a central hub for local TV news from TV stations throughout the country. It also expands as a consumer -oriented entertainment platform, although still with the emphasis on live local content. To demonstrate the power of Zeam’s very portable live stream technology, Seam Comedian Podcasters Mike Young and Bret Ernst engaged for the “Destination Comedy” event with the two and their antics while they were on the road five days of July 29. 2.
“We push the boundaries of our technology to show industry that we can go so grainy that we can catch live video of a van in a van that goes on the road with two comedians,” says Jack Perry, CEO of Zeam, based in Marion, Iowa and New York. “We do that to inspire our broadcasters to invest in hyper-local content.”
Zeam offers a simple way for local TV stations to generate more advertising income from live streams. The Platform provides dynamic advertisement at the local level – which makes stations much greater to focus specific consumers – and it also enables the station to accumulate the streaming audience with its linear signal to sell the greatest possible audience to advertisers.
Zeam made a splash two years ago in 2024 with its first Super Bowl advertisement to generate interest in the company. (It has also taken a place in this year’s broadcast.) Since then, SEAM has had more than 4 billion dynamically inserted advertisements for partners.
The Acquisition of Newson will considerably expand the local TV footprint of ZEAM with the entire country – all 201 market areas designated as defined by Nielsen. Sinclair had also invested in this area and recruited other stations to use the Newson platform.
“Newson has been an important source for connecting viewers with familiar local news from all over the country. We are convinced that the platform will continue to support ZEAM stations under the leadership and strengthen the value of local journalism,” said Kevin Cotlove, Sinclair Executive VP and Chief Digital Officer.
Zeam has two central poles of his business. The BTB division supports live streams for a large number of customers. In the field of consumers, ZEAM offers income exchange agreements with partners, where ZEAM usually deals with all the sale of streaming advertisements. Perry Pitch Zeam to potential partners as an outlet valve that can generate incremental income from the moment a user downloads the app or clicks on the feed of a certain channel on the Zeam.com site.
“We are the infrastructure for all these local stations to stimulate digital income without having to do much work,” says Perry.
The ZEAM team is also working to conclude deals with Samsung, LG and other connected TV manufacturers to improve the status of the ZEAM platform on the SMART TVs home page. This distribution-based distribution becomes a greater factor for the distribution and income-generating potential of fast channels.
According to Perry, the biggest advantage is that ZEAM station partners can offer the possibility to create original local content with moderate incremental costs. The Live Stream Tech supports a series of live and on-demand production options. This type of flexibility becomes more important for broadcasters, since the volume of syndicated programs that are offered for sale at Markt-Think Talk shows, game shows, variety shows produced from Los Angeles, Chicago and New York-De has been considerably delayed in recent years.
“Nowadays, stations not only think of the network-connected model. They also say:” Hey, wait a minute, we want to make our own content, regardless of what our network can offer, “says Perry.
