Most important points:

  • Making your own makeup, such as tinted lip balm, can save you money and give you control over exactly what goes into the final product.
  • You can create and customize your own color.
  • It uses simple, natural and organic ingredients and is a fresh handmade product.
  • This is a smooth and shiny balm that was intended to give the lips a relatively sheer color.
  • Shea butter, beeswax and coconut oil provide your lips with plenty of moisture, especially during the cold winter months.
  • Optional essential oils provide more healing benefits and a wonderful scent.
  • The color comes from natural mica pigmentation.

5 steps:

  1. Gather your ingredients. You’ll need: organic virgin coconut oil, beeswax, unrefined shea butter, rose mica powder and essential oil of your choice – this is also an ingredient you can easily leave out.
  2. Melt the coconut oil, beeswax and shea butter in a small glass jar or bowl over a pan of slightly simmering water. You don’t want boiling water. Stir gently with a spoon until completely melted.
  3. Once your mixture is completely melted, stir in the essential oils and mica powder.
  4. Transfer your mixture to a container of your choice. You can use a brand new container or reuse an old, cleaned lip balm tube or container.
  5. Once in the container, allow the lip balm mixture to cool and solidify. You can apply with your finger all day long!
