‘Tulsa King’ spin -off with Samuel L. Jackson to change show runners

The potential “Tulsa King” Spin -off series “Nola King” changes show runners.

Variety has only learned from sources that Dave Erickson is no longer sutured to run ‘Nola King’, which has not been formally lit green at the moment at Paramount+. Sources say that the departure was due to a planning conflict and that the search is actively underway to find a new show runner for the series with high priority.

Representatives for Paramount did not immediately respond to requests for comments.

“Nola King” was reportedly in the works on Paramount+ in June for the first time. As reported at the time, the series is set up by Jackson -Gast in several episodes of season 3 of “Tulsa King” before he would move to his own series. Exact character details are held under wraps, but Jackson would play a character a prominent gangster in New Orleans, similar to the Dwight “The General” Manfredi of Sylvester Stallone in “Tulsa King”.

Erickson is also the showrunner on season 3 of ‘Tulsa King’ and colleague Taylor Sheridan-Verse show ‘Mayor of Kingstown’ with Jeremy Renner in the lead role. “Tulsa King” was recently packed with filming on the third season, while “Mayor of Kingstown” season 4 films wrapped in June. Neither of the two season currently has a premiere date, but both are expected to be broadcast later this year.

Erickson remains under his general deal with MTV Entertainment Studios, which he returned again last year. He was named Showrunner in season 3 of “Tulsa King” after the show went without a traditional show runner for the second season. Terence Winter had been the Showrunner in season 1. Erickson originally came to “Mayor of Kingstown” in the second season of the show.
