The now prince and princess of Wales, both then in their early 1930s, visited Malaysia in September 2012 when the photos were taken secretly while the couple were on vacation in a private French villa, were published in the French version of Closer magazine.

The topless images of Middleton, now 43, surprised the palace and led to a rare and rapid legal battle for infringement of privacy.
