Y Combinator startup Firecrawl is ready to pay $1M to hire three AI agents as employees
Y Combinator-Supported Startup Fireworks is again looking for employees of AI agent. As we reported in February, the first attempt did not lead to AI that it was worth renting.
But it has now placed three new ones ads On YC’s vacancy board for “AI agents alone” and has set aside a budget total of $ 1 million to make it happen.
Within about a week after the new vacancies went live, it had around 50 applicants, founder Caleb Peffer tells WAN.
Fireworks Offers a web crawling tool that scrapes data from websites for LLMS. This is, Peffer admits, a shady part of the AI ecosystem where poorly worn web crawlers can sometimes pound websites such as DDOS attacks. But Firewcrawl has become popular by trying to bring in a number of guardrails, he says.
Many of his customers are, for example, companies that scrape their own data for internal LLM use. Some websites want their data to be included in Chatbot answers, just as they want Google links, he says. In addition, the Robot.Txt settings tool honors and can be set to scrape a public website only once and to share the data with others.
Consequently, one vacancies for a content creation agent “who never sleeps and is always sent” that will autonomously produce “high-quality” SEO-in-law blog posts and tutorials about how to use the product, says the advertisement of the startup. Firecrawl wants to view these AI engagement statistics and use it to also autonomously improve the public for its content.
In other words: the agent must decide what he should make, create, post, measure the audience and grow autonomously control of that feedback. If you are a Borderline Agi Ai made for blogging, this can be the task for you. The advertised wage is $ 5,000 a month.
The company is also looking for an engineer of customer service that has the task of creating the AI workflow that responds to customer problems within two minutes and can process tickets alone, knowing when they have to escalate to a person. Previous experience with doing customer support is requested. Paying is also $ 5,000/month.
The third opening is for a Junior Developer agent who will be given the task of prioritizing incoming Github problems, writing documentation and writing code in Typescript and Go. Again, the wage also $ 5,000/month.
But here is the catch: Firecrawl also hopes to hire human maker or makers behind these bots – and the budget of $ 1 million is for hiring both agents and people, although it is not clear how many years the budget should cover. The startup can hire people full -time, or as contractors (which may be more logical if they create many agents for many companies). Firecrawl is also entertaining bids from other startups that specialize in making the types of agents looking for it, for example in customer service, says Peffer.
The truth is that the AI employee of the dreams of Firecrawl does not yet exist. Maybe it will never.
“AI cannot replace people today,” says Peffer. “The future, what we see is a world where the next 10x engineers exploit armies of agents, AI systems that they build, maintain and monitor. What we want to do is work with people who want to be those agent operators.”
Firecrawl is not the only one. YC’s Jobboard is full of jobs for developers from agents. Will their creations ever replace them as Silicon Valley who wants continuously? That is the real question of a million dollars.
