Christopher, now director of development at Indus Valley Media, recently appeared noticeably slimmer during his family’s Christmas celebrations, leading to renewed attention on a journey that began far from the spotlight and culminated in losing more than 50 pounds through steady lifestyle changes rather than quick fixes.

Christopher spoke candidly about that turning point in May 2025 when he appeared at the inaugural Beacher Vitality Happy & Healthy Summit, where he explained how a trip abroad forced him to confront his limitations.

“I started in 2019, when I was living in Australia. I was on a big trip. I made a big deal out of it, like, ‘Oh, I’m going to go out and do all this stuff, be in Australia,’ and I just saw how much my weight was preventing me from doing the daily activities,” he said.

“I thought, ‘I want to go skydiving.’ And my friends said, ‘Yeah, no shot.’ I thought, ‘Yeah, I can’t skydive.'”

That moment became the catalyst for lasting change.

Christopher said the early phase of his weight loss battle was deceptively simple, starting with restricting his diet during Lent.

“I lost 30 pounds because of it,” he said, highlighting the broader reality that followed.

“It was a big process,” he also admitted.

Over time, he said regular strength training, hiking and long walks helped him, with Christopher learning how to stay fit through trial and error rather than chasing immediate results.

Despite visible progress, Christopher remains cautious about considering his transformation complete.

“It took a lot of trial and error, and even still to this day… when you say, ‘Oh, before and after pictures’… I don’t feel like I’m an ‘after’ yet. I don’t feel like I’m on the verge,” he explained.

Sources close to the family say this view is exactly what resonated with Arnold Schwarzenegger, 78, a man whose own life and career were built on the bodybuilding discipline.

Christopher avoided declaring his journey complete and continued to work toward goals.

A family friend said the actor was deeply moved to see his son stick to his own terms, noting that the change has transformed their relationship.

The source said. “Seeing Christopher choose this path for himself has changed the way he looks at him. He feels like he can now be completely proud of his son. It wasn’t like he was ashamed of him before, but now that his son shares his admiration and love for fitness, he feels like they have more bonding now.”

Arnold has said, “I could never say to him, ‘You’re overweight.’ We just kept introducing healthy food. We always introduced him to the gym and all that stuff. And then, out of the blue, he decided he wanted to be skinny. And now he is. So of course that’s fantastic, the self-discipline and the self-motivation. I always felt that one day it would have to come from him – and it did.”

Another source added that the couple’s now shared admiration for fitness has brought a new ease between father and son.

“For the first time they are meeting on the same property,” the source said. “It’s no longer about pressure or expectations, it’s about mutual respect.”
