Savannah Guthrie‘s mother, Nancy Guthriehas been reported missing in Arizona.
“This is very concerning to us. Normally we don’t get the sheriff out at a scene like this. But what we are learning from the house is very concerning,” said the Pima County Sheriff. Chris Nanos said during a press conference on Sunday, February 1. “And so we continue as normal. The Detective Homicide Team is also currently on scene looking at the scene.”
On February 1, a 911 call came in, with a family member calling police to report 84-year-old Nancy missing. She was last seen the night before between 9:30 PM and 9:45 PM.
“We did pretty much everything we could,” Nanos continued, noting that Nancy “is not in good physical health, and that is obviously a big concern.”
Nanos and his team are “not” ruling out foul play and noted that there were “some concerns” about what was found at Nancy’s home.
Savannah was noticeably absent from the Today news desk on Monday, February 2 with Sheinelle Jones participate Craig Melvin in her place. The facilitators discussed the “very personal story” before reading a statement from Savannah and her family.
“On behalf of our family, I would like to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers and expressions of support. At this time, our focus remains on the safe return of our dear mother,” the statement said. “We thank law enforcement for their hard work on this case and encourage anyone with information to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.”

Nancy’s home is in Tucson, Arizona, where she was last seen on Saturday, January 31, according to police.

Nancy urged Savannah to move away from home and follow her dreams. Savannah admitted that it was “really hard” for her to move to Montana at age 21 for her first job as an anchor.
“She said, ‘If you can’t leave me, then I haven’t done my job, Savannah,'” Savannah recalled. “She just gave me permission to go, you know?”

She called Nancy “bold and adventurous,” as the tributes continued.
“She has taken on unthinkable challenges in her life with grit, without self-pity, with determination and always, always with unwavering faith,” Savannah added. “She loves us, her family, very much, and her selflessness and sacrifice for us, her steadfastness and her unwavering self-confidence is the reason each of us grew up to do something.”
