US embassy in Italy issues travel warning due to massive demonstrations in Rome

The US Embassy in Rome has one safety warning US citizens warn to exercise caution amid planned demonstrations taking place in the Italian capital on October 24 and 25, 2025.

According to the embassy, ​​a protest is planned Friday, October 24, starting at 6 p.m in Piazza Verdi, where a significant police presence is expected. A larger demonstration will follow on Saturday, October 25 from 1:30 PM to 5:30 PM., organized by the Italian General Confederation of Labor (CGIL).

The Saturday march is expected to attract around 30,000 participants and will move from Piazza della Repubblica through Piazza dell’Esquilino and end in Piazza di San Giovanni in Laterano. Italian authorities have announced extensive security measures in the affected areas.
