Following reports of locker room tension, Dart publicly addressed the situation following a Giants OTA (Organized Team Activity), insisting his decision was rooted in respect for the office of president and not politics.

“This was obviously a unique opportunity because I was asked and given the opportunity to introduce the President of the United States,” Dart said.

“My thinking was pretty simple because I’ve always loved this country, I have a lot of family members who fought in wars, I have two uncles who retired from the Air Force Academy and served themselves.”

Dart added: “The president’s position has always been one that I have deeply respected, regardless of my political beliefs, regardless of political party, and that was exactly what my intentions were.”

The quarterback acknowledged the reaction, saying, “I also understand that politics in this world can be a sensitive issue, a touchy subject.”

“I also understand that I am the quarterback of the New York Giants and that comes with a lot of responsibility.”
