Toonz Media Group CEO P. Jayakumar is stepping down after 26 years in office

Toonz Media Group CEO P. Jayakumar will step down from his position effective November 30 after more than 26 years at the helm of the Indian animation studio.

During his tenure, Jayakumar transformed Toonz from a pioneering Indian animation studio to a global entertainment player specializing in children’s and family content. The company expanded its operations internationally, establishing studios and offices in India, Ireland, Spain and New Zealand.

“Leading Toonz has been one of the most fulfilling experiences of my life,” Jayakumar said in a statement. “What started as a dream shared by a small, passionate team has today grown into a global powerhouse of creativity and storytelling.”

The outgoing CEO expressed his gratitude to the company’s team and international partners, while indicating plans to pursue a new venture. “While I am stepping down from my current role, I will always remain emotionally connected to Toonz. In the coming months, I plan to embark on a new venture that continues my lifelong passion for creativity and collaboration in the global entertainment space,” he said.

To facilitate the transition, Jayakumar has worked with Viswanath Rao, acting group CEO, and Karthik V. Kumar, who was recently appointed chief financial officer and board member of Toonz Animation India.

Founded in 1999 and headquartered in Technopark, Thiruvananthapuram, Toonz Media Group has produced and distributed thousands of hours of animated content, working with major studios, broadcasters and streaming platforms around the world. The company specializes in animation, VFX and digital content aimed at children and families.
