Tilda Swinton should play Voldemort in Harry Potter Show

Ralph Fiennes thinks the ‘ship has sailed’ to reprise the role of Voldemort, but he would like to pass the wand to another acclaimed British actor: Tilda Swinton.

During an appearance on “The Claudia Winkleman Show” on Friday night, Fiennes was asked about HBO’s upcoming “Harry Potter” series and the rumors about who will take on the role of the Dark Lord.

“I remember when we shot the film series, I was asked if I would reprise the role, and this was a few years ago. I said, ‘Yes, I would like to,'” Fiennes revealed. “But then nothing happened and I think that ship sailed.”

However, he added, “But I will tell you that Tilda Swinton was mentioned somewhere as a contender, and I think she would be great.”

Indeed, Swinton’s name is rumored to be in the mix for the role alongside Cillian Murphy, although the stars of “Oppenheimer” and “Peaky Blinders” recently contradicted the rumors.

“I don’t know anything about that,” Murphy said on Josh Horowitz’s “Happy Sad Confused” podcast. “Plus, it’s just really hard to follow everything that Ralph Fiennes does. The man is an absolute acting legend, so good luck to whoever is going to fill those shoes.”

Fiennes had also previously supported Murphy for the role, telling Andy Cohen on ‘Watch What Happens Live’ in December 2024: “Cillian is a fantastic actor. That’s a great suggestion. I would be all for Cillian. Yes.”

The first season of HBO’s Harry Potter series premieres this Christmas.
